XMLHttpRequest / Update a drop down

I am looking for a good tutorial on how to use XMLHttpRequest to update
the contents of a dop down menu ..
similar to how google suggests works, except that the results are
displayed in a drop down after typing a search term in a text box -

any help direcitng me to a good howto, or posting something here would
be great --

is it even feasible??

thanks

Once the server responds with a lov, you can use it to dynamically
update your dropdown.

Is there a way - possibly a disconnected rs? - to update the contents of an existing pulldown on a page without having to re-submit the page for the user to see the pulldown populated with an additional value? I realise there are javascript possibilities (and I am still searching for a usable one) but I thought perhaps it may be possible to allow a user to add a new entry to a drop down box that had been dynamically populated from an...

My database has 2 tables: Table1 & Table2. If a field is not null on a record in table2, then the not null fields in table1 that correspond to the records in table1 needs to be updated to match the field in table2. What I have is a form that is linked to Table2. If the users want to change a field in the main database (table1), they fill the change in to the form (which is linked to table2) If there is no change to the field, they simply...

The title probably isn't very clear, but I haven't been able to find this problem (or I must be having problems figuring out which search strings to use) so I apologize if this has been addressed before, and I apologize if this is the wrong forum since I'm trying to use the XMLHTTPRequest with Javascript and PHP and I couldn't figure out which category my problem belonged to. I am completely new to AJAX and rusty with Javascript. I created a...

Hi, I have an ASP.NET 2.0 C# issue that has been troubling me for some time, and if someone could shed some light on this I would appreciate it. This seems to be a commonly themed question, although most relate to DataGrids and this is a slightly different scenario. This is completely hypothetical, but say I have a form for editing database information. This form contains two drop down boxes, one of which determines the content of the...

OK, I'm pretty sure this cannot work because I'm trying to use JavaScript (client-side) to write to an xml file (which is server-side) using XMLHttpRequest. Can I use PHP do what I'm trying to do? Here's my code: The function mySaveFunction() is called by clicking the "Update" button, after the user changes the data which is populated in the form fields, which was retrieved via XMLHttpRequest from an XML external file. I know that...

I have a GridView populated by an ObjectDataSource. I am having issues passing the parameters to the objectdatasource. I have verified that the method is being called but none of the parameters are being populated. Integers are being passed as 0 and strings are empty regardless of what I changed them to in Edit mode on the GridView. My object method to perform the update:

Hello, I have two tables that are feeding a form/subform relationship. The first table, called "Tbl_Projects" lists a variety of projects taken on by a department. A second table called "Tbl_Project_Codes" (the "many" in the one-to-many relationship) details various codes that are associated with the projects. For example, a project may be "Marketing Campaign" and the codes may be "Conference Call," "Road Show," and "One-on-one Meeting." ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
