Direct printing using non-default printer (IE only)

Hello,

I realise this is not a pure Javascript question, and that VBscript is
probably involved at some point, though not as much as I fear. If you
opened this item looking for a pute Javascript question, I'm sorry.

For an IE6 intranet application I'm running into some problems
regarding printing screens from the browser. The specs dictate these
requirements:

1. Print dialog should not be shown (depending on type of screen).
2. Default Internet Explorer 6 headers and footers to be turned off or
content changed.
3. Direct printing to both default printer and non-default printer
(latter to be identified by name).

The site can be placed in the 'trusted sites' zone. I do have some
influence over the client PC as well, as it's all running within an
internal enviroment.

Using the WebControl ActiveX, I've achieved the first requirement, but
I can't seem to be able to control the variables for items 2 and 3.
Apart from Javascript, I used to work with Java a lot, but I'm not
much of a VB(S)/WSH programmer. So preferably I'd use javascript, at
least as a wrapper for the ActiveX methods.

Any tips?

Regards,
Gerb

Can you use a third-party control?

http://www.meadroid.com/scriptx/

Absolute control over document printing operations from client and server
computers running Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser.

Support for all versions of Internet Explorer from IE 4.01 SP1 to IE 6.0 SP2
on Microsoft operating systems from Windows 95 to Windows XP SP2.

Enables the secure application of custom Print Templates to browser-based
content in IE 5.5 and above.

An estimated millions of hits are made each working day on ScriptX-enabled
documents.

A near-100% record of successful deployment.

A basic subset of ScriptX printing functionality is available at no charge.

Global deployment costs start at $1 per day regardless of user numbers.

Acknowledged as the de facto web-technology printing utility.

Download the current version of ScriptX here.

Hi folks, I wish to print on pre-printed continuous forms on a dot matrix printer. My initial intent was to access to printer directly (in raw mode, somehow) in order to send whatever is necessary to do the job. I had to try... but FileOpen does not permit opening LPT1.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
