I have a test database that I have built in a 3 partition (and 3 node)
environment. I have defined all the tables so they have the same
partition key. The tables (7 of them) form a hierarchical
arrangement. The data is all bogus, so I using the generate_unique
function to come up with a partitioning key for each record. This is
all done through a stored proc with will insert about 90 records in
the heirarchy.
The behavior that I am...

Hi All,
I have a problem and I can't figure out how to solve it.
My database has three tables:
tblCustomers, with CustomerId and CustomerName
tblProducts, with ProductId and ProductCode
tblPurchases, with PurchaseId, CustomerId and ProductId
I created a form with a subform which shows all the customers, one at a time

HI--what I am trying to do is 2 things:
1. Open a form in either data entry mode or edit mode depending on
what task the user is performing
2. Cancel events tied to fields on the form if I am in edit mode.
The reason I want to do this is becasue when entering a new record the
form is entered in data entry mode and I have lots of stuff happening
upon entering and leaving fields. In edit mode I do not want the
events to fire.

This is driving me crazy! I have a form that a user will access from
another form by selecting the item that they wish to view. When they
open the new form, I pass through the id of the item they selected so
that only the details for the given item are displayed. In order for
this to work, I using the following code.... This is working no
problems at all:
SqlSelectCommand1.Parameters("@blast_no").Value = blastNo
So this displays the...

I've come up against a major headache that I can't seem to find a solution
for but I'm sure there must be a workaround and I would really be grateful
of any help.
I'm currently building a web site for a small club I belong to and one of
the features I would like to include is the ability to allow users to upload
image files.
unfortunately the servers web root www folder only allows READ and EXECUTE
permissions, which makes it...

Hi all
Complete newbie here, so apologies if this is the wrong forum.
I've been asked to use mysql and asp to make a simple bidding system (rather
like a simple ebay), whereby users can use a web browser to view a highest
bid and can make a bid.
My question is; how can I be sure that when a user submits a bid, that
another user isn't also currently submittimg a bid, i.e i can tell user A

Suppose, in a multi-user environment, you
have append query SQL in a VBA procedure
that looks like INSERT INTO MyTable...
and the next line reads MyVar=DMax("","MyTable...
You can never be certain that MyVar will be
set to the key-field value that was created
when the Append query ran. Now, there are
other ways to do it - I know - that will ensure
you 'nab' the correct record. But I was wondering

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
