writing to document.cookie make the screen flash

sun
In Javascript, I write to document.cookie , and retrieve it in server
side.

It's in a treenode control, when the node is expanded, I write
document.cookie :

if(subTree.styl e.display == 'inline')
{
icon.src = icon.CollaspedS rc;
e.src = e.CollaspedSrc;
sign.src = sign.CollaspedS rc;
subTree.style.d isplay = 'none';
}
else
{
document.cookie = 'category=' + catid;
icon.src = icon.CollaspedS rc;
e.src = e.ExpandedSrc;
sign.src = sign.ExpandedSr c;
subTree.style.d isplay = 'inline';
}

There is no problem with retrieving the cookie. The problem is when
expanding the tree, the whole screen flashes.

How to stop it from flashing?

I ran into the same problem. I got rid of it by writing to
document.cookie only during onSubmit event. If anyone has better
solutions, I'd really appreciate it.

I am encountering a strange problem in Netscape 7 with a CFM file I am trying to troubleshoot (the page is working fine in NS Communicator and IE). Below is a sample of the problematic line of javascript code. Note that in the actual file, I've surrounded the variable '#cookie.cookiename#' with CFOUTPUT tags: document.write('<input type="Hidden" name="affiliate" value="#cookie.cookiename#">'); When I load the document in Netscape 7, I...

It seems that document.cookie doesn't work both on Internet Explorer 5 for Mac (OS 9) and Opera 6 for PC... am I doing something wrong? Or does it just not work? I don't get an error message, the cookie just simply gets ignored. Do you have any suggestions? F@bio

Hi, I'm building a Web page with a Flash component that post some content to a handler (ashx file). There is a known bug with Flash 8 running on Firefox, whereby Flash will not send cookies (I believe only session cookies). This poses a problem for my receiving Web page, because the latter cannot access the Session state since the session cookie was not sent. Is there a way to recreate the Session object given the session cookie? I...

I want to save links to a cookie. So far I can save one link by: var value=document.getElementById("link1").href; document.cookie=cookiename + "=" + escape(value); If I want to save several links, do I have to create one cookie per link or can I save them all in the same cookie? If I can use only one cookie, how do I read the values from it? Thanks in advance!

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
