Hi,
I'm looking for a way to iterate over all existing top level windows,
from inside javascript.
I know that if I have a window's name, I can access it, retrieve a
handle to it with window.open, etc. What I want here is, when there are
one or more windows open, and I *don't* know their names, how can I find
them ?
Does the navigator have some array of windows (like the window has an
array of frames) ?
Thx,
Joao

This is impossible I'm afraid, there is no such way of doing it.
(even the brute force attempt would fail since some windows aren't
named - but it would've failed with the thousands of windows being
opened in any case)
Jim.

I'm writing an app where I'm trying to look for and List all specific file
'types' found. So I point to a specific start top level Folder... and I want
to drill down through ALL sub folders to find file types (using File
Extenion).
All found DWG files are listed in "lbDwgList" Listbox.
I can get the top level and the 'immediate' level below the top level... but I
can't figure out how to keep going down X levels (ie: All sub-levels). ...

I'm using pygame to write a game called Bombz which needs to save some
data in a directory associated with it. In Unix/Linux I'd probably use
"~/.bombz", in Windows something like
"C:\Documents And Settings\<user>\Applicacation Data\Bombz".
There are plenty of messages in the archives for this group about how to
find the correct location in Windows, but what about Mac OS? There I
don't know the correct location for this sort of thing at...

I can figure out the total number of nodes in a given tree but what I'd like
to know is what is the Selected Nodes relationship to the entire tree i.e
This is node n out of nnn nodes.
In most of my database apps its common place to tell the user that they are
working on record x of xxx records I'm trying to provide the same
functionality using the tree control.
TIA

Hey all,
Maybe someone knows this problem; I have a C# WinForms app that every
now and then has a new version that I deploy to my users using an
installation script written with the NSIS installer. To improve on this,
I want the installer to shut down any running instances of my
application when it does the installation.
To do this, I have implemented the following function to kill any
instances I find (yeah, I have the pinvoke for...

Hi all!
I use python for writing terminal applications and I have been bothered
by how hard it seems to be to determine the terminal size. What is the
best way of doing this?
At the end I've included a code snippet from Chuck Blake 'ls' app in
python. It seems to do the job just fine on my comp, but regrettably,
I'm not sassy enough to wrap my head around the fine grain details on
this one. How cross-platform is this? Is there a more...

Not sure exactly what my question is or what forum to ask on.
I know how to get version info from a particular file.
e.g.
FileVersionInfo.GetVersionInfo(filePath)
What I'd like to do is get version info for Microsoft "components" such as
MDAC, DAO, MFC Runtime, etc. An "overall" level rather than specific file
version. For example .NET - 1.0 or 2.0, MDAC 2.5 or 2.7, etc. Any way? Or
better forum?

Is there a cross-platform of determining what other processes (or in Windows
terms, other applications) are running?
Is it possible in a cross-platform way to ask some other application to shut
down, wait a while, and then test to see if it did shut?
Failing that are there separate Windows, Mac and Linux/Unix ways of doing
this?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
