ESE on a desktop O/S (XP)? Then you ask about the Administration Client
level after installing an ESE service pack?

I think you're very confused as to what you want and where you ought to be
putting it. Suggest you start with the documentation under "Concepts,
Introduction to DB2", which will explain what the various versions are for.

BTW, although ESE 8.1 may run on XP, the documenation clearly indicates that
this isn't supported:
<quote>
DB2 Enterprise Server Edition runs on:

a.. Windows NT Version 4 with Service Pack 6a or later
b.. Windows 2000. Service Pack 2 is required for Windows Terminal |Server.
c.. Windows Server 2003 (32-bit and 64-bit)

Ais, could you double check the Db2 vesion:

*) Issue db2level command from DB2 CLP

*) check HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\IB M\DB2\CurrentVe rsion

in Windows registry

*) look also for version information in db2diag.log instance file.

May be somehow the instance code was not updated, or ... the fixpak was
not successfully installed.

I'm running DB2 on XP Processional without any problems (of course not
for production purposes).

Cheers, Artur

Hi Arthur..

I was checked

*) Issue db2level command from DB2 CLP : v8.1.0.36

*) check HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\IB M\DB2\CurrentVe rsion

in Windows registry : 8

*) look also for version information in db2diag.log instance file.

In the db2diag.log file i can’t find Version field.

In the control Panel -> administrative Tools->eventviewer ->
Application

I found few Error lists.

One error is pasted below

The description for Event ID ( 4 ) in Source ( DB2 ) cannot be found.
The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or
message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may
be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see
Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the
event:
2005-09-27-11.10.52.859001 Instance:DB2 Node:000
PID:1460(db2sys cs.exe) TID:1728 Appid:*LOCAL.DB 2.00BCC7054052
recovery manager sqlpresr Probe:3170 Database:LOCALD b

, ADM1531E Crash recovery has completed successfully.

How can i find ont which instance was missed or corrupted

Thanks in Advance

Ais

Hi all, I'm a Win2000 professional user - sP 4. I can't delete some folders in e:\inetpub\wwwroot\...\. I've created them by FrontPage2000 SR1. I enter Windows as Administrator, then I should be able to create /delete all objects. On the contrary, each time I attempt to erase the assigned folder Windows warns me so: "Access is denied. The source file may be in use."

I am interested if anyone can point me to "best practices" regarding the level of administrative authority a SQL Server database administrator should have. Alternatively, I'd be interested hearing what level of authority on the server you/your SQL Admin has. I have been told that in order to do their job, a database admin needs full admin authority on the operating system in a Microsoft environment, but I find that hard to believe. ...

Hi, all. I am having some confusion with connecting to a SQL 2000 SP4 Server across a one-way trust. I have a SQL server in the trusting domain, and the Admin workstations in the trusted domain. I am not using domain-level authentication, I am only using SQL IDs.

Hi All I've created an admin side for my ASP site and I use session vars to provide page security. Just as a bit of advice, I want to know if I should expire each admin page so that others can't bring them up. I know the session var check will bounce them back to the login page, but I'd rather they didn't even see this page if they aren't authorised.

I admit this not being C# specific but i don't know where else to start. My application needs an "administrator" user id. This would function just like the "administrator" user id in windows. The account is built-in. The only thing that is configurable about the account is the password. What i don't know how to do is create an account like that. Is the user id and pwd treated like all the other accounts? Stored in the DB? How is...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
