I want to offer my friends a ping service, where certain of their
pages will be called once a week. My impression is that no PHP script
can be made to run very long. Assuming a situation where I don't have
access to cron, should I write the service as Java application and set
it to run forever on my webserver?

I'm having trouble with a bash script (in Linux) I'm running from Java. It
works -- some of the time, but I can't determine exactly why it works 1
time and doesn't work the next 4-5 times.
I'm not sure, but the script seems more likely to work if I run it directly
from bash. I was thinking of running a small script and, within the
script, calling bash directly to execute the program, something like:

I'm new to Java but experienced with PL/SQL. I've found what appears to be
strange behaviour (a bug?) when attempting to create java stored objects
using the UNIX version of Oracle SQL*PLUS 8.1.7.3.0 with JServer 8.1.7.3.0.
The reason it seams strange is that the problem only occurs with the UNIX
version of SQL*PLUS, not the PC client version running on Windows 2000 but
connected to the same database and schema. Can anyone shed any light...

Script. how we can differentiate it. Why we called this kind of script
"Server Side Java Script".
