Where is the i18n.jar file?

Hi,

I have install the JDK1.4.2_02 and the installer doesn't install the
i18n.jar in the lib directory.
In 1.3.1, there was an International version of the JDK and that file
was installed.
What is happening in 1.4.2 ?
I want to test my application to see if it run in say Cyrilic.
Everythings goes well with Unicode text in properties files.
But if I hardcoded some text in my application, it shows little sqare
for each character that was supposed to be in Cyrilic.

Where can I get a goos trail on all that stuff of making an application
localized.

I am developping on Win2000, US english locale.
Do I need to set the font.properties
The locale, ie: language ru country RU.

And what are the steps if I want to test say in Japanese or Chinese.

I am in the dark and needs help on that matter.

Thanks for your time,

Pierre Morel

Is there a way to do this in a professional manner? For now I only can think of having all strings in a file, read them into a dict at startup and then access them like so: print str(MyTextDict('e', "errorOnDbStore")) or print str(MyTextDict('f', MyTextDict._ErrorKey_ErrorOnDbStore))

Hi! I've just released a JavaScript library to allow internationalizing JavaScript code and/or to do HTML translation from JavaScript. It's a first release, and it doesn't have all the features I'm interested in (e.g. it doesn't support domains, although I don't think that's much of a problem in most JavaScript applications, and it uses a non-standard message catalog format, instead of .po files translations are stored in XML) but it's...

Hi, I have a documentation tool based on Java and XSLT that I want to add i18n capability to. There are around 8 stylesheets that process a Source generated by the Java code and some of the static labels across the stylesheets are the same. Ideally I'd like to import a set of variables into each template, and preferably based on an XSLT parameter (the locale) but this obviously doesn't work:

i am currently in the process of writing a program to convert a type 1 psf font file into a file compatible with the linux kernel's format for compiled-in fonts (see drivers/video/console/font_8x16.c). since the cpi2fnt file used to generate the 8x16 font has gone awol. the problem i have encountered in the psf format http://www.win.tue.nl/~aeb/linux/kbd/font-formats-1.html] is that the kernel file requires all the fonts to be created...

My C# code is I18N'ed by appropriately naming and editing .resx files. At execution time, it works. My C++ code is somewhat I18N'ed. When I put UI code in C++ I use .rc files. When I link to a third party's DLLs I get what they supplied. When I link to Microsoft's CRT and MFC, um... Well anyway, at execution time it seems to be working, except when a third party's DLL has a secret dependency. But what about the installer? A Visual...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
