Problem with IIS/IWAM/ASP.NET

2 New Member
I´m not sure where to put this topic, as I dont know where the problem is. But I´ll give it a shoot.

We have a WSUS server here. The WSUS site runs on ASP.NET v1.1
while the applications (Clientwebservi ce etc) run on v2.0 (except Selfupdate and Content folders). I have realised that inorder to get WSUS to work is to give the IWAM acc proper rights to the ASP.NET Temporary Files folder.
Now my problem is that every day (night) this account is removed from this folder, and I have to re-add it in the morning. I am thinking of a conflict in ASP.NET but not sure yet. Also, I get spammed with this error message in the event viewer -> application:

I recently upgraded my server from win2k to win2k3. I cannot run asp pages now. If the asp page is configured as part of an application i get "The requested resource is in use" If I remove the application i get the error "HTTP/1.1 New Application Failed" . I made sure ASP was enabled but I still can't seem to figure out what the problem is. Any Ideas?

I've two copy af the same asp.net application. The application enter on sql server, working with two separate databases (on the same sql server instance, of course). The connection is made with integrated security, and the server is a domain controller. If I start only the first application (call the web site), all right. If I start only the second application, all right. If I start an application, and then call a page from the second,...

Okay, so I'll try here now <g> I've been battling this problem for over a week now. So, if nothing else, hopefully my little tale of woe will be entertaining. But I'm really hoping someone somewhere in the world has encountered this problem and knows how to get around it. If anyone has any NEW ideas for me, please please let me know. Thanks! Here goes:

The call CertOpenSystemStore(0, "MY") in a C++ COM DLL returns an "Access is denied" error when called from a classic ASP webapplication. Doesn't the IUSR and/or IWAM account by default have the proper authorisation to call CertOpenSystemStore() ? -- Marja

I have developed an ASP.NET 2.0 application using localhost on my Windows XP workstation, and it all works fine there. I tried to copy it to my test web server, which is a domain controller running Windows 2000 Server SP4. I can't get it to work on the server. For testing, I created a simple aspx page with nothing on it except for a label. Even that simple page won't work on the server. This error message appears in the browser when I...

Our server administrators recently changed the permissions of most of our servers (you know how it is, the developers had, shock horror, got to know the domain administrator password, and some decision was made on high to clamp down on everything) This consequently has had the effect of rendering our live ASP.NET 2 web server useless with page requests for .NET sites returning ACL permission errors. I ran a few tools and found out...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
