web advertising

Hello,

I'm a web developer and I developed many websites in my life :), so I
know all technical aspects, but I don't know much about online
marketing. I would like to do some web advertising. I understand that
the common approach for charging for add space is either click through
or impressions. I will need to be able to monitor these and log them
to ensure appropriate charges. I would also need to be able to add/
remove add and modify their configuration i.e. size/impression ratio/
etc.

What sort of products or services I can use in this instance. I use
PHP/MySql to develop my sites.

Thanks a lot,
Richard

You could use AdSense which is based on cost-per-click, and if you
enable it you can have links at the bottom of ads encouraging people
to advertise directly on your site per-impression. Unfortunately you
can't see who is set up using this, but you can block specific URLs of
ads and you know someone has clicked directly on your site if it
registers revenue one day when you haven't gotten any clicks.
