Hierarchical horizontal navigation menu

I've been trying to figure out how to do this for the past 2 days and
am finally tossing in the towel. No matter what I do, I just can't
seem to get it to work and haven't been able to find any examples of
how to do it in a more CSS-oriented way. Most of the hierarchical
examples are for vertical navigation menus.

Basically, I'm trying to achieve the same effect as on
anthropologie.c om (that's the only one that I can think of off-hand).
Any clues on how I should begin? And I'm sorry if this is fairly
simple to do, but I'm a newbie to the whole pure XHTML/CSS thing.
Thanks.

Oh, and in case it helps, here's a bit of my stylesheet just in case
it helps.

Check out the Suckerfish Dropdowns -

Lightweight, attractive, generally a Good Thing.

[snip CSS code]

The link should be everything you need, but for future reference - in a
case like this, we'd need more than just the CSS - it's pretty
meaningless without the HTML it's applied to. Best thing is always to
post a live URL

Cheers

I have been playing around with several different versions for a horizontal menu, but I haven't been able to build a horizontal navigation based on the vertical one featured on www.alistapart.com in the article "taming lists". However I have managed to build a horizontal navigation but it has a slight hitch in Mozilla and Opera, but it's fine in Internet Explorer. It is a strange occurrance of a 4 - 5 Pixel bar in grey (which is the...

Hi all, I've got some strange behavior happening in Firefox and Safari (Khtml and Gecko) that displays *almost* fine in IE6.0 (still trying to get pixels to line up, anal anal anal...) To speed things up, and to avoid any problems with looking through the css file, I'll say first that I based the navigation menu on the "Suckerfish Dropdown menu" online demo over at htmldog. (http://www.htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/). In...

Hi everybody, I am very happy to find this group. I am searching for a solution to make a horizontal list menu with submenu on hover. I found a lot of examples for horizontal lists which open vertical lists on :hover i.e. http://phoenity.com/newtedge/horizontal_nav/ But what I am looking for is a horizontal list that opens another horizontal list and both need to be right-floated.

Hi Group - trying my question again. :-) I'dl like to use CSS to replicate the top navigation like this : http://www.checkeredshirt.com/jo-menu/ Currently - this nav menu everything is in a table, and using JavaScript rollovers that reference two images. One for the non-hover and one for the transparent hover.

I have this code used for the navigation on an HTML page. It's an accordion style dropdown menu. Everything works fine I just need to change it so that the submenuheader class allows it to be a clickable link. Right now all that happens with for example Home has two submenus of About Us and Quality. When you click home it expands the dropdown. But I want it to expand and also direct to a Home page. thanks in advance! var ddaccordion={...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
