Is Something Wrong with the W3C Validator

I have been trying to validate my web site using the W3C validation service
and have been having a hard time with Framesets. I don't know if it is me,
or the validator, but I can not get any frames to validate correctly - my
own, or even others, including the W3C's own examples.

The results I get are:
1.. Line 6, column 15: there is no attribute "ROWS" (explain...).
<FRAMESET ROWS="70%,30%" COLS="33%,33%,3 4%">
^2.. Line 6, column 30: there is no attribute "COLS"
(explain...).
<FRAMESET ROWS="70%,30%" COLS="33%,33%,3 4%">3.. Line 6, column 43: element
"FRAMESET" undefined (explain...). <FRAMESET ROWS="70%,30%"
COLS="33%,33%,3 4%">
4.. etc.Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.Tha nks,Jeff

Before going any further... are you using the frameset DOCTYPE?

This is the suggestive one. It doens't recognise <frameset>. That
probably means that you've got the wrong doctype. The only doctypes
that contain <frameset> are HTML 4.0 Frameset, HTML 4.01 Frameset and
XHTML 1.0 Frameset. Nothing else, not even the Transitional ones,
contain frameset or frame.

But without an URL the above is just a guess.

Thanks, for your help. I was using the wrong doctype. It now validates
fine.

http://wallysanford.com is currently being redirected by Namecheap to my server at home. The link to the W3C Validator has been working fine. Suddenly, that link causes the Validator to see and properly reject the following code, apparently some redirection plumbing that's not supposed to show: 1: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> 2: <HTML> 3: ...

Hi I have only got NN7, Opera 7.1 and IE5.5 to test with. Anyway, please have a look at http://p0c79.phpwebhosting.com/~p0c79/test100.html The absolutely positioned red div is correctly positioned at the top left corner of the blue div in NN7 and Opera7.1, but it is situated at the top right corner of the purple div in IE5.5

Hi, I've just spent a day writing a page which has expandable menus using layers and I have come to find that layers overlap if the user has their browser text-size settings set to a larger than normal size. At the moment adjusting the text size (in the View menu) with IE will not change the text so IE never displays overlapping layers, but Netscape does. However, this is just a temporary fix and not a solution because I do want the user...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
