Workaround for mutliple backgrounds in IE7 / IE8

The site I'm working on is in Wordpress. There is one small image included in the page through the CMS. Through CSS I'm trying to get a white background to display, then a watermark type of image over that. Of coure, looks great on all browsers except for IE7 and IE8. Neither background shows. The small image through the CMS does display correctly.

Since CSS2 doesn't support multiple backgrounds, I've been researching different workarounds to display them in IE7 and IE8. I've tried psuedo-elements, filters, adding divs for the second background and styling that, and I can't get anything to work. I know at some point I may have to accept the fact that I won't be able to get it to work, but I'd like to exhaust all possibilities first.

What have any of you used in this instance? I know, IE sucks, but I have to support it. Thanks.

One of our senior developers rewrote our main style sheet and now the site looks fine in all browsers. The sheet wasn't written right in the first place. No wonder I was having problems with IE7 and IE8. This was the first project I've been on with a custom template. Sure learned a lot.

Hi All I am programming MFC Visual C++ using Microsoft Visual Studio.net 2003 under Windows XP professional. I have developed some bitmaps as graphic overlays for buttons. I had trouble finding a colour for the bitmap backgrounds from the standard pallette that matched the xp beige standard button color. Managed to do this by creating one from RGB numbers in another editor, but I suspect it shouldn't have been this awkward. I now also...

I have a logo image that I can paste into MS Paint as an image with clear background. Think of the logo as a black circle in a white, rectangular background. When I paste into Paint, the white back- ground can be made "clear" so it does NOT overwrite other image data when I'm pasting into an existing picture. Just the circle would appear after the paste is made. However, when I try to accomplish the same thing with an Access 97 form,...

Hi, Have created 2 seperate reports that have different images as backgrounds. Would like to have both pages print out as 1 print job (so duplex printer will make each report page on opposite sides of page) - I tried placeing both reports as subreports in a single report (lets call it SuperReport), but in that case the image backgrounds get overwritten by whatever image is set as the background for SuperReport. Any suggestions on how I...

I'm developing Web Applications with C# code behind. I have found that, because of the particular nuances of my company, I am stuck with positioning the items on the page with tables. No problem with that though. The problem is that some of the controls on the screen are displayed with yellow backgrounds and I can't figure out how to change that to white (as the others are). Nothing I do seems to make a difference. Could someone give...

Hello forum friends. I performed a search on this topic, but I couldn't find anything useful. I wasn't really sure what to search. First I'll state what I am trying to do. I recently agreed to make a site for a friend. It's good practice for me. The site will have (among other things) a biography. I told him to look at Zen Garden and find some layouts, and I'd see what I can do. His favorite layout for Biography is: ...

Well I seem to have an interesting problem. I have an application that where I am setting the BackgroundImage and the TransparencyKey set in code. These are both set after the InitializeComponent() in the constructor of the form. This works great on my computer Windows XP Pro; however on some other computer the TransparenecyKey isn't working and you see the horrible green color that shouldn't be there. This doesn't happen on all machines...

I'm a total flash / actionscript newbie. I have a question about how to create a flash background as seen here: Adobe MAX I don't expect a detailed explanation. I'm just looking for some info on how they create the particle effects and moving backgrounds. It looks really cool but I wouldn't know where to start to create something like that. Thanks, Greg

Hello, I would have a window form with a groupbox that should have certain amount of images. I would have those images stored in a list, then my ZERO-th element would be my foreground. Elements at 1..N would be my backgrounds. Depending on the amount of elements in my list: a) should I insert N-1 pictureboxes and populate them with 1 foreground and appropriate background image b) should I somehow copy 1 picture box with the same foreground...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
