HTML file works locally, but not live

I'm helping a friend create her website. I'm not an expert with CSS, FTP, or HTML, but I know enough to squeeze by with only a small headache.

I've already uploaded all of the files I've created for her site via FileZilla.

Her index.html file works beautifully when I load it locally from my computer; but as soon as I try to open the webpage, all I get is the Index directory; and no listing of any of her other pages.

Is there a reason for this? Hopefully, it's not something simple that I'm later going to *headdesk* about.

Any help is muchly appreciated. Thank you!

Here's the HTML file:

I use FireFox, and the link to my friend's site is http://www.pandorasproxy.artistyandprose.com

It's a subdomain of http://www.artistyandprose.com/index.php

If all you're seeing is a file listing of her root directory, and none of the files you uploaded, then one of the servers (ftp or the web server) is misconfigured.

From what I can see, it looks like the "pandoraspr oxy" site is in a separate subdirectory of her normal root directory. But I'm guessing at that.

Also, the processor that's showing the empty directory may be configured to mask certain file types to prevent mallicious intrusion.

Check capitalization. On Linux/Unix systems, INDEX.HTML is not the same as index.html at all.

Well, it's taking longer than it would to upload my files all together via FileZilla, but I managed to figure things out in my FTP File Manager in my cPanel; so I'm uploading everything one piece at a time.

Thanks for your help!

You have uploaded everything into a sub directory Index so your friends website address is actually http://www.pandorasproxy.artistyandprose.com/Index

Upload everything to the correct directory (or if you have shell access telnet and move everything).
