multiple suckerfish menus dropdown z-index not working

110 New Member
Hey Gang,

More difficult to describe this than see it, so here's a link which shows the issue I'm having
http://zifimusic.com/testing/broken-hovers.html

I've been looking at this for quite a while, and can't figure out why I can't set the dropdown menus to appear above other elements which also have dropdown menus.
I run multiple suckerfish menus on the page, but these somewhat complex ones are the only ones which have issues.

I can't direct you to the proper page, as it is behind logins, but I've taken the code out and created a test page which has the same issue.

The bars represent time durations, which is why they are floating within a div spaced and lengthed within a table cell.

The issue is exactly the same with ie 6/7, firefox & Safari3 on PC I haven't had a chance to test on Mac Yet.

Hopefully this is obvious to those more skilled than me.

Thanks
Pete

Hello- I was amazed at the suckerfish drop-downs from AListApart.com. They work great except for one thing, if I position the drop-downs over an iframe element, on mouseover the menus disappear. It works fine in IE, but not FireFox. I would like to implement these menus, but if I can't get this to work, I gotta look at something else. If anyone has some suggestions, I would appreciate it.

I have question about the technique for css dropdown menus described in http://www.alistapart.com/articles/horizdropdowns/. Based on an html list, it has a few items in a 1st order list and further 2nd order lists that appear to the right when hovering over items in the 1st order. Anyone figured how to modify to go to n order greater than 2? Bit tricky I found. I could get the other orders but they all appeared when hovering over the 1st...

This sounds like a frequently asked question, but I didn't find the answer in any faq I've looked at. I have a question about the wisdom of using (javascript generated) dropdown menus. Question: Does google interpret javascript? Or, in other words, are client-side-javascript-generated links invisible to search engines?

Anyone knows if the htmldog suckerfish menu can be done in a more fluid way: http://www.htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/ Or more precisely, the 2-level menu: http://www.htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/example/bones2.html In fluid I mean: 1) The width of each drop menu to equal the widest text of any item contained within the visible drop menu.

I'm using a horizontal CSS-based dropdown menu based on this code: http://www.weblens.org/templates/sample_menu.html Is there a relatively easy way to add a slight delay to the menu with JavaScript, so that when you take the mouse off the sub-menus don't disappear right away?

Hi all :) I have created a horizontal navbar using Xara Menumaker. The Menu items have several dropdown menus. Its a javascript. When the mouse cursor is moved over any menu item, a dropdown list/menu appears. When the page is opened in the browser (as it appears by default), the dropdown menu positions are correctly displayed. But when I scroll the page and then move the mouse over any menu item of the navbar, the dropdown menu is not...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
