continuing background

Hello,

I have a background image that needs to continue to infinity.
Currently, I have a band-aid solution where I've made my background
image 3000px and kept it pretty small in file size with the height set
to 'auto'. However, I've always wanted to do this the right way and was
hoping someone could help me and/or point me to a good tutuorial
creating infinity backgrounds with nested <div>'s.

The page I'm working on can be found at
http://www.smartwebdevelopment.com/css/cities.html

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You could divide your image into two images, the top bit, and the bit
below that that goes on forever.

Then put another div outside .pageBlockTop with the repeating bit as a
repeating background image:

<div style="backgrou nd-image: url("stripe.jpg ");
background-repeat: repeat-y">
<div class="pageBloc kTop">
</div>
</div>

Then you can edit your 3000px image to be just long enough to get as far
as the repeating stripe at the bottom.

Also set background-color: transparent on pageBlockTop (although it's
usually the default anyway).

Since you want solid colours, use background colours.

(And while you are at it, get rid of the fixed px-sized widths.
See how it looks in my browser at

I have a PHP script that is run via a 'wget' command within an MS SQL trigger, and relies on accessing the database record updated by the SQL statement that triggered the script in the first place. For this reason, to avoid the script reading the old record or getting into a deadly embrace, it must "return" in order to complete the 'wget' command but then carry on and do the actual work required.

Howdy all. Am attempting to delete a large number of records (123K) from a table using: db.execute "delete from tblname" Then I double check (code below) to see if records still remain as during my testing they have...and that causes problems when the app reloads the table w/current data and encounters already existing keys...

Hi All, Background image is in place and a Div (yellow border) inside center Div column is positioned where I want it to be. Now the problem is that in Mozilla my third column div is dropping down below the wrapper but is exactly where it is supposed to be in IE. I've tried some clears and stuff like that but to no avail. What is causing this and how do I fix it? http://ocg6.marine.usf.edu/patrick/test_css/test.html

Hi, I've created a nav bar using a background image for rollover effects. Everything works as I had hoped, however, for some reason it seems that an area of whitespace (the same size of the background image) is hyperlinked underneath the nav bar. I can't see any errors in the coding below. Any ideas what may be causing this? the page is at http://www.maguiresonline.co.uk/wosis/files/nickysnav.html the html.... <body...

I am opening a windows (well, technically a greybox() call GB_show() which shows a nicer window than normal), and want to wait until that window is closed before moving to the next command. However, when I open the window, JavaScript immediately issues the next command statement. How can I get JavaScript to wait until the window is closed before continuing? Here's visually what I'm trying to do: statement1; GB_show('mycaption,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
