am building a website and using templates to get started
much of the page content is gif files, so am investigating different gif
editors
mostly what is needed so far is a tool that picks up the current colors
backround foreground, etc and a way to replace/edit current text,
the editors i've tried so far, don't seem to have the above, am looking
for recommendations for decent editors that are not too expensive or free!
that can do mostly the basics but especially have the tools needed to modify
existing gif files 3 1620

The GIMP is a great heavyweight free graphics app that can do what you
require. Assuming you're using Windows (posted from OE6), see: http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/

Seems the installation on W98 is kinda problematic? Is there a preferred
version for that OS?

Although it warns that, it seems to work quite fine here. I used the
latest available version for Windows (well, I installed on the 16th of
August, so whatever was the latest version then).

Gentle People,
I've started working with a team of C++ and PHP programmers - They
develope on Windoze platform which I dislike since our production
servers are LAMP based, I've always believed greater effort is placed on
stability with Apache/MySQL/PHP on a Linux platform than an equal setup
on a windoze platform.
For this reason, and to encourage them across to a Linux based
development platform, they said they'd try it if I could...

Hi
Can anyone recommend a decent utility for compressing
HTML that is safe - i.e. that *definitely* doesn't mess
with the appearance in any browsers.
I run a growing website whose pages are inexorably getting
too "heavy".

Can someone recommend a good php editor? Beside syntax highlighting, I
am looking for an editor that will allow me to do "block selection"
(that is, copy from column, say, 5 to column 12 of several lines of
text).
Are there any free editors that will do this?
thanks,
Kurt

I've noticed that in adding a graphic to, say, a button the defaults
are now gif, jpg, jpeg, bmp, wmf and png. You can use icons if you
select 'All Files'.
Does that mean icons are on their way out? If so what's the 'best'
format to create new graphics for buttons etc.?
I like icons because icon editors make it easy to set transparent
backgrounds but I guess there are similar facilities in other editors.

Hi Folk
Right now, I am using notepad2 to edit my PHP files. Do you have any
recommendations for any php editors I should purchase instead? I dont mind
spending some money for a good product.
I also have visual studio and I hear that there is an extension for VS for
php. Does anyone have any experience with this?
TIA

I'm hoping someone can recommend a free to low-cost content management
system that's easy for non-pros to use and is not too constrained by
web design. I have a content site and I would like my editors to post
stories, update blogs, etc. Thanks for the help.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
