Graphics in VS2005

I've noticed that in adding a graphic to, say, a button the defaults
are now gif, jpg, jpeg, bmp, wmf and png. You can use icons if you
select 'All Files'.

Does that mean icons are on their way out? If so what's the 'best'
format to create new graphics for buttons etc.?

I like icons because icon editors make it easy to set transparent
backgrounds but I guess there are similar facilities in other editors.

Hi Jeff,

I don't think this means the .ico format is on their way out. There are so
many format of a picture, it is only not listed.

Earlier we used to make scale transformations on objects like pictureBox , forms etc.Now Such transformations are made on the graphics object of the form/pictureBox. Should It be better if make a graphics object from my pictureBox in load event handler of the form and store it as member variable of the form , make

-- hello In VB6 you can do graphics OK with directx and API's. I can do OOP in VB6. The graphics routines may be different tha VB.net but are they easierto code in than VB6. Just being different isnt a good enough reason to start using VB.net a lot for graphics and neither is the overrated argument of being OOP ( which I could do basically in VB6 anyway). There must be a positive somewhere.

We are in the process of moving to ASP.Net from classic ASP. I believe it makes sense that our web/graphics designers work in VS2005 when styling, formatting, etc.; but wanted to confirm that this was the norm - rather than using a non Microsoft tool (like Dreamweaver). Note, pure graphics work is not in question.

I'm trying to save the image of a webbrowser control. Not a particular image being shown on the page, but rather the visible display of the webbrowser. Using VS2005 I figured that maybe DrawToBitmap would work, but it appears that the webbrowser doesn't implement it. So I looked around and found that this code: Dim g As Graphics g.CopyFromScreen(Me.wb1.PointToScreen(New Point(0, 0)), New Point(0, 0), wb1.Size)

I am writing an application in VS2005. I have created two forms and tested both as the startup page. I changed the web.conf to use Forms based authentication and defined one as the login page. When the login page comes up the graphic are now broken. I did this in VS2003 and it never happened. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am using the Microsoft Press training kit for the Framework 2.0 exam. It has the following example for putting text into a font and drawing it. I created a new Windows Application. But where do I put the code? The book does not say -it assumes the reader knows. I tried the form.load event and the form.paint event, but I get an empty form when the program runs. Dim g as Graphics = me.CreateGraphics Dim f as Font = New Font("Arial",...

Dear All, I need to save the content of a panel to a bitmap. The panel can have many child controls which also need to be saved. The problem would be solved if I could have the panel saved to a Graphics object, which is the same as if I'd need to print it. It'd be easy using Control.DrawToBitmap, but I also need the invisible part of the panel (which is hidden because of scrolling) and DrawToBitmap just takes a screenshot.

Hi I am using the VS2005 setup and deployment project template to deploy my new app. However it only seems to allow graphics during the setup process to be placed in the top banner area. Is there a way to have the graphics on the left hand side of the EULA for example?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
