Links wanted for how-to server hosting at home

I am clueless as to what search terms to use. What I want to do is buy a server and connect it to the internet from home so I can have host my website myself from home. I don't know what the cost is to use a home internet connection. I don't know if the bandwidth would violate the home internet service agreement or not. I can't find any articles that would hash out all the details of hosting a server at home.

I can find thousands of links to businesses that do dedicated hosting, and how-to start your own internet business. Neither do I want. I also don't need prices on buying a server.
Thanks in advance! I greatly appreciate it!

I got smart. I finally typed in "hosting a server at home" which gave me 9 results. One of those results was useful. I had forgotten about how unstatic IP addresses are. I found a site that has a product that works around this issue for cheap.

I also found that no one recommends hosting a server from home because most internet connections forbid servers. I thought so. I only found 1 site for how to host a server at home, and that site is down. LOL

If anyone has a link that hashes out the details of such an adventure, please post it. None of the 9 links really hashed out the details.

Long winded forethought:
Okay, so it looks like I am looking at bending over backwards to overcome my mental illness so that my boyfriend would dare marry me. With marriage to him, I'll be able to afford to get a dedicated host. Without marriage, I won't be able to afford it because my disability payments are too low. I'm also looking at bending over backwards to learn programming faster so I can get my dream website up and making money for me. This way, I might be able to get off of disability and not need to be married to make ends meet. It all comes down to money money money. LOL (Yes, my boyfriend is really cool. I've known him for 20 yrs.)

Hi all, I've searched high and low on the web and the group for the following error: pg_connect(): Cannot create new link. Too many open links (0) I have checked phpinfo and it says max_links is unlimited, and so is max_persistent. It's got to be something obvious - but I can't see it.

Here's a neat bookmarklet for putting tooltips on links. I got the idea a long time ago somewhere and made it much better than it started out. javascript:dl=document.links;for(i=0;i<dl.length;i++)dl.title==""?dl.title=dl.href:dl.title.substring(dl.title.length-dl.href.length,dl.title.length)!=dl.href?dl.title+=": "+dl.href:dl.title=dl.title;df=document.forms;for(j=0;j<df.length;j++)df.title=df.action;void(null) Broken up into readable...

For our intranet - I've standardized on black for links (from input of users) - no change for visited, etc... However, on one page, I've been asked to make the normal blue for non-visited/purple for visited to be instantiated. I figured I could easily create a class for this - - - - BUT......(and I know how to create a class) ---- I'm not sure how to create a class that will include A:LINK and

He there! I've discovered that the ================================================= document.links('link_id_here').href = "something"; ================================================= is not applicable for the Firefox (even for the 1.0.6), and I'm falling into passing through the array and checking each link id.

Hello All, I have a a file display page that contains two frames. In the left frame is a tree view that lists a directory and all its subfolders. Each node in the left frames tree is a link that when clicked displays links to all the files in the right frame for the folder clicked. The problem I have is that some of the links don't work and some do. It seems like the <A href only renders when it wants to. Has anyone seen this...

Hi, I am new to this, but starting to get a handle on datagrids, repeaters, etc. Now I want to start formatting my pages so they look nice. My background is with database programming, not web design, but I still want to make things pretty. Looking at the top of some pages (such as asp.net) page, there is the ASP.NET logo and all the tabs running across the top and then the Search box. How is this done? My assumption is that it is done...

I have a WinForm application that has a WebBrowser Control. I can navigate to any website fine. I want to store the link addresses in an array to be called back later. For example, if I visit a news website's main page (www.newswebsite.com), they will have links to other stories. The links' address usually appears in the status bar when you mouse over the link (say for example, www.newswebsite.com/story1).

Hi guys, I have a windows mobile application that has html pages generated on the fly (some pages have links in them). With the new browser MSIE 6.0 the links on the pages are not read as links. Basically nothing happens when you click on them...it just creates a dotted border around the links. Has anybody experienced the same issue? My target platform is Windows Mobile 6.5, my target browser is MSIE 6.0. The links work in previous platforms...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
