Did I make the right choice?

33 New Member
Okay so I'm currently pursuing my bachelors in Software Engineering and I am currently in my third year. The thing is, I want to apply my computer knowledge to something more than just endless programming. It's not that I don't enjoy it but it gets slightly annoying to code random stuff that I have no interest for. So I guess it is safe to say that I only enjoy programming when it's related to something of interest such as personal projects. In my case, that would be robotics and electronics and I find games and website work would be next. I love low level work and the design aspects. I don't really enjoy learning high level languages all that much and I'm not as excited as my peers in that area. That lack of excitement will catch up to me since while my classmates are learning new programming techniques on their own time, I'm soldering resisters and capacitors and programming in Assembly or C. At my University, A Software Engineering degree is pretty much 1/2 CS and 1/2 Computer Engineering. So Ideally my job of choice would be something involving robotics. I would love that. I'm currently working on a robotic hand that is controlled by a glove so I guess I enjoy the body mechanics that comes with building robots along with making "the brain". But I know for a fact that I will not enjoy my career if I have to be a Developer and code all day. What should I do? Can I do robotics work with a SWE degree?

For...
