Audio in Real Time

Hi Folk!
I want to do a application in real time to analyse a audio input, but i
don't know what first step can i do.
I'm going to use a notebook to analyse input audio. Well, my idea is
analyse the input audio and make a recognition of phrase. I'm pleasure
if someone can help me.
Thanks!

A good first step is to develop a thorough understanding of the Fourier
Transform, and of the ideas behind the Markov Property. A poor first
step is to start off with vague requirements like "real time" and "use a
notebook".

I strongly suggest you read the HTKBook: http://htk.eng.cam.ac.uk/

I need to create some specifications and budget request for a workstation (G5) and all necessary hardware and software for authoring online college courses. The course material would contain short bits of streaming video and audio, short bits of animation, text and webforms. (I don't have to consider serving the output) This has to be done before someone is hired to do the authoring. What software or specialized hardware would anyone...

I have some audio help files that play fine from within Access 97 and Access 2.0. Both are running on a Windows XP box. But I do not know what program plays the files. If I click Start, Run and type in c:\MyApp\MyHelp\Help1.wav, Windows Media Player tries unsuccessfully to play the wav file. It err's saying ClassFactory cannot supply the requested class. But WMP has no problem at all playing c:\windows\system32\ ALSNDMGR.WAV. That goes...

Is there any way to encode a byte stream of audio data into GSM or other codec data, and the decode also? I searched all over the Internet and didn't find any valid solution applying to C#. I'm using waveIn and waveOut (from winmm.dll) but I would like to avoid messing with that low level stuff. I would prefer applying an encoder/decoder directly to the byte stream. Is it possible? How can I do it?

Dear all, I have created a large Python-based GUI project and I'd like to use it as a GUI interface for real time audio sequencing (using the SuperCollider -SC- synthesis server). Python (the client) and SC (the server) can communicate via OSC protocol (there are available implementations). SC will generate events responding to Python messages. In order to have sequencing I have to send at precise timing messages

Hi, Can anyone point me to info on how to stream audio from a web server in more or less real time (i.e. exact synchronization is not an issue but it would be nice if the stream was no more than a few seconds behind the source). If I'm running a .NET server, what needs to be installed on the server end to take an audio input from sound hardware on the server and make it available on the site? Can this be done with standard stuff or do...

My question is -- which is the best approach to add multimedia capability to my c# application, to support most possible formats, and make it easiest for the end user(e.g. does not need convert before play it)?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
