Streaming video/audio authoring tools for Mac?

DMS
I need to create some specifications and budget request for a workstation
(G5) and all necessary hardware and software for authoring online college
courses. The course material would contain short bits of streaming video and
audio, short bits of animation, text and webforms. (I don't have to
consider serving the output)

This has to be done before someone is hired to do the authoring.

What software or specialized hardware would anyone suggest?

So far this is my list: Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional,
Streamline, Dreamweaver, Flash Profesional, Fireworks, Discreet Cleaner,
Sound Studio 2.1.
Am considering Filemaker Pro in case there would be database elements to the
class-online materials

Am told that Macromedia Director would be overkill, that iMovie would be
sufficient and that dual processors would not be necessary for the short
bits (5 mins or less) of video and animation that would be produced.

We already have a digital video camera and will purchase a Epson scanner.

Would also appreciate recommendations for a video capture device for
digitizing short bits of existing videotape.

My two pence worth? You mention that the course will be online - I'm not
familiar with your G5 (Apple I guess, yeah?) but I make the assumption
that iMovie will create Quicktime type movies - If this is the case, you
would want to make sure that your client machines can view this. I
don't know if its available for the Apple, but Helix from Real Player
allows you to create their Real Audio/Video without too much grief and
for non-profit use, you can get it for a one year license.

As for camera's/video capture? It depends on the quality that you want
to provide, but some folk can do wonders with good lighting and a simple
web cam...

I hope that offers you something of use...

Please please please, stay away from Real, the Internet could really do well
without it. Nothing ever opens for me using Real on a Mac, and I remember
the fun times spent using Real player on my old windows 98 machine. Once
installed it tries to take over your machine! The more people who use
Quicktime or even Windows Media Player the better.

Yes.. those people at Real are the greediest bunch of assholes on the
planet. Their software does take over your machine anbd it sucks bigtime.
they simply can not compete with Apple and MS. I wish they would just go out
of business already.

Hello, I'm looking for a way to allow a client who clicks on a link the ability to "adodb.stream" a multimedia file (mainly audio/wav) files, but the file they would be accessing is outside the wwwroot (for security / traceability). I don't want the "save as" box to open for streamable content. Basically I'm trying to mimic the exact action, as if they had clicked a www.mydomain.com/download.wav file, and allow the browser to open it...

Using VS 2003, VB.NET and/or ASP.NET 2.0, BACKGROUND I have a window forms based application that contains a TreeView control and a WebBroswer (AxSHDocVw.AxWebBrowser) control. The TreeView is populated with nodes that when clicked play an audio clip from specified local or web URL and navigate the browser control to a specified local or web URL. Audio playback uses as hidden media player object AxWMPLib.AxWindowsMediaPlayer).

Hello, I am looking for a good audio/video conferencing library. Ideally it should work with wxPython (or have some means of making it work there). So far my main difficulty in my attempt at searching for such a package is that there is so much stuff out there on downloading music and videos. I am not interested in download torrents, etc. I'm just looking video conferencing, and live video broadcasts, etc.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
