Audio and image capturing

How can I capture the audio from the microphone and images from screen
or webcam to send to another application?

And how can I compress them at run-time?

I need to stay capturing, compressing and sending this information for
a long time.

A good start would be ask somewhere where your question is topical. A
group for your platform would be a good place to start.

I like to create some audio files for my web site. These are all language files to help the visitor learn a foreign language. There is no music. As far as I know, I can create three types of such files: .wav, .mp3 and .wma. But my knowledge may be too old. Is there any new type? I've seen an indicator for audio files in some language-learning pages. It is a small trumpet. Clicking it would play the sound file. Is this small...

I had a problem with uploading images in that some files did not have a type of "image/something" from the $_FILES which I used for my verification. Someone (THANK YOU) suggested using getimagesize() which has the third element in the returned array being a number representing the image type. That worked perfectly for me, enabling me to check that it was, indeed, an image file that I had uploaded. Now I ask if there is a similar...

Hi, This might seem a dumb question, but every search I've done so far has come up blank - with the possible exception of Schtoom. I've seen Schtoom that does manage to capture audio under Mac OS X, but it's unclear whether the audio tools it uses can be used independently of Schtoom. So my question this: does anyone know of a library or simple approach to capturing audio (any quality :) from a microphone on Mac OS X ?

Hi, I have been using GDI+ and Windows Media SDK to get the metadata information for image and audio files respectively. Just incase if someone is not clear as to what I mean by metadata information, its the information regarding the image or audio files like., height and width for the image.,. Title, artist, author etc for the audio files.

When the user chooses an AV file to play, based upon the type of file, I want to use the default installed media player to play it. I am wondering if this is a good way - any alternatives, suggestions or improvements? if( wmv file) document.write("<OBJECT id=Player classid=CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6 height="354" width="479">

Hi Everyone, Do any of you gurus out there have any suggestions regarding capturing audio/video from a video capture card in C#. Although I've written other programs, I've never worked with audio/video sources before. I've seen other people recommending DirectShow.NET. Is this one of the more popular libraries to use? Would anyone recommend other third- party libraries? Thanks,

Greetings, Good buddies! I am for the first time, since I started learning VB, going to build an application I wanted to build for my first son, a language and activities program that will allow at one push of a button for colours to be added in squares, circles, and for audio responses to these to sound when for example, red circles, blue squares, or foods, etc are found in text added to multiline textbox. My second son can benefit from...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
