I use #currentlink in a nav list of links to indicate which page is
currently being viewed.
The code in the nav list looks like this:
<p><a href="index.php">Home Page</a></p>
<p><a href="contact.php">Contact</a></p>
<p><a href="tech.php#tech01">tech01</a></p>
<p><a href="tech.php#tech02">tech02</a></p>
<p><a href="tech.php#tech03">tech03</a></p>

Instead of me arbitrarily assigning a high port number to a variable, is
it possible to check for ports that are unused and then randomly assign
one of them to a variable? Something like this is what I'm thinking:
port = socket.getunusedport()
Any ideas?

Hi all,
I'm new to C.
I have successfully written a small C program that acts as a "wrapper"
around cgi scripts. These scripts perform admin tasks such as backing up
etc. Obviously, The need for the "wrapper" was to get the scripts to run
with "root" privileges. So far so good. I simply create a "URL shortcut"
that some staff can double-click on to initiate the process.
However, because I am creating these automated tasks for...

Will this code give me a true view of a computer's status? All I am
looking for is to see if the computer is reachable or not.
My end goal is to get a list of IP addresses from a MS SQL Server, see
if the IP is reachable(if yes I will assume the pc is operational),
update the database with the result and generate a web page displaying
the results.
I am using port 135 because I have an all windows network and this
port should be open...

If so, is there any sample code around.
Thanks in advance.

I understand how easy it is to use the my.computer.network.ping command, but
is it as easy to check for a response on a given port?
How can I check for a response for port x at 123.456.789?

Hi everybody!
I'm want to check if a certain port is opened or closed.
now I'm using try-catch to connect to the port. if it fails, it meas that
the port is closed.
The problem is that this method is extremely inefficient! anyone has a
better idea on how to do this kind of verification?
Thanks!

Can someone give a quick example of how to check for activity on a TCP
port? For example, I'd like to watch and listen for activity on port
80. Once activity is detected, I'd like an event to be triggered.
Thanks in advanced.

Hi,
I am coding a mysql health check script. The logic is to execute the commands (only once)show status, show slave status, show variables and fetch the variable name and value in a hash refer or any other fetch machanism and dynamically use the values to do calculation like the following
threhold values($uptime > 10800) && (Handler_read_rnd_next > 4000) && ((100-(((Handler_read_rnd_next + Handler_read_rnd) / (##Handler_read_rnd_next +...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
