Hi !
I am a beginner in PHP. Does anybody know how to check if an URL is
alive or dead in PHP (not exist or server down...or whatever ) ?

I use #currentlink in a nav list of links to indicate which page is
currently being viewed.
The code in the nav list looks like this:

Instead of me arbitrarily assigning a high port number to a variable, is
it possible to check for ports that are unused and then randomly assign
one of them to a variable? Something like this is what I'm thinking:
port = socket.getunusedport()
Any ideas?

Hi all,
I'm new to C.
I have successfully written a small C program that acts as a "wrapper"
around cgi scripts. These scripts perform admin tasks such as backing up
etc. Obviously, The need for the "wrapper" was to get the scripts to run
with "root" privileges. So far so good. I simply create a "URL shortcut"
that some staff can double-click on to initiate the process.

Will this code give me a true view of a computer's status? All I am
looking for is to see if the computer is reachable or not.
My end goal is to get a list of IP addresses from a MS SQL Server, see
if the IP is reachable(if yes I will assume the pc is operational),
update the database with the result and generate a web page displaying
the results.
I am using port 135 because I have an all windows network and this

I'm want to check if a certain port is opened or closed.
now I'm using try-catch to connect to the port. if it fails, it meas that
the port is closed.
The problem is that this method is extremely inefficient! anyone has a
better idea on how to do this kind of verification?

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
