How to check for port response

I understand how easy it is to use the my.computer.net work.ping command, but
is it as easy to check for a response on a given port?

How can I check for a response for port x at 123.456.789?

for response ?

if you mean to check if a port is open or not
Imports System.Net.Sock ets

Private Function TCP_Port_Open(B yVal ip As String, ByVal port As Integer) As
Boolean

Dim TcpPortscan As New TcpClient

Try

'Try to connect

TcpPortscan.Con nect(ip, port)

' we are still here :-) so this port is asumed open

Return True

Finally

TcpPortscan.Clo se()

End Try

End Function

Hello to everybody, I've done an application that draws in a frame the trajectory of a robot. The robot position is readed through the serial port, and several commands are wrote through the same port to change the direction of the robot. The trajectory frame is managed by an applet, and the project works good when the applet is called by a html document allocated in the same local machine under W98 where the classes and the serial port...

Sorry, don't know if this is the correct board for my question. I'm a novice so I guess I have a valid excuse My question : I'm using Visual C++ and I need to collect data from a serial port. Specifically, I have a piece of equipment that outputs ASCII data to my computer through the serial port. Is there some way I can call the serial port from within Vis C++ and then save the data I'd much rather do this than buy some sort of software,...

I have this wierd bizarrre problem that I'm experienceing with the Response.Redirect() method. I have a site where the users are on a particular page in SSL. When they post the data back, and the processing is done, it then tries to redirect them back to the non-SSL site. But the site is on a non-starndard port number. I place in the Response.Redirect() method the Fully qualified path to the URL and when ASP.NET makes the Response, the...

Hi everybody! I'm want to check if a certain port is opened or closed. now I'm using try-catch to connect to the port. if it fails, it meas that the port is closed. The problem is that this method is extremely inefficient! anyone has a better idea on how to do this kind of verification? Thanks!

Can someone give a quick example of how to check for activity on a TCP port? For example, I'd like to watch and listen for activity on port 80. Once activity is detected, I'd like an event to be triggered. Thanks in advanced.

Hey All, I have some classes that I recently built for a website which uses the HttpWebRequest & HttpWebResponse objects from the System.Net namespace. Basically, the classes rap submitted data up, connect to external websites on external servers and post / remove the data from these other sites. It works fine locally but when uploaded to the BCentral production server, the outgoing requests get shutdown.

Hi, I'm developing an application in PHP5, which interacts with another system written in Delphi (of another company). I've prepared the Web Service - WSDL, Client and Server (only stub) side. Company responsible for Delphi part hasn't preapred "real" soap server, but instead of that they have made an application, which listens for SOAP request on one port and send SOAP responses on another. In that case the problem is I can't use...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
