Get Notified When Connected and Disconnected (INTERNET)

Cat
Hello.
Is it POSSIBLE to get notified when the machine is connected to the
internet or disconnected from the internet? I mean, using .NET class
not using Windows API. Other than pinging a website continuously at a
time interval. If it is impossible, please answer NO to my question.
That will help me to stop searching for this. Thank you.

This is backwards of what I usually want--normally if you have a long-running ASP script, it's a good idea to check to see whether the client is still connected so you can cancel execution. However, I have a script that absolutely MUST finish one it's been started--is there a way to cause the entire script to execute, even if the client disconnects in the middle of the process? It doesn't matter if the script returns anything to the...

Why can I only connect to or create a web app in VS 2003 using localhost while I am connected to the internet. I have no problems using VS 2002 but for some reason I get Microsoft Development Environment dialog that says 'A connection with the server could not be established.' whnever I try with VS 2003. I've read a number of other posts (through google) but none seem to ever finish with a resolution. I suppose I could continue to work...

Running VS.NET 2003 Enterprise Arch on WinXP Pro SP1 with a P4-2.4Ghz, 760MB+ RAM, and 10+GB free disk space. Laptop is part of a domain. When working on a web project connected at the office, VS.NET enters into debug mode (compiling, firing off a browser, and starting the debugger) just fine. However, when the machine is disconnected, or I'm working off a wireless network @ home (WiFi) or working off a wired connection @ home (all...

I know that .NET is based on a disconnected architecture, but I can't conceive of why continually opening and closing a connection would be faster than leaving a connection open. So I ran a test and came up with a result of exactly the same times! 50 rows selected into a datareader, in a loop of 50 One opens and closes the connection in each iteration of the loop, the other just opens before the loop starts, then closes after the loop is...

Hello fellow programmers! My question concerns the scalability of database access. In coldfusion (or php for that matter) for example, there seems to be only the connected model for accessing a DB. On the other hand, there is asp.net 2.0, which provides disconnected and connected access. Question: Would databinding to controls directly, in ASP.NET 2.0 (without the manual coding of ADO.net), be as affective (scalable) as using the...

I am using the following code to connect to and download files from an ftp server, but the Symantec anti-virus software on some of my customers machines tells them that their computers are attacking the Ftp server with "FTP Pathname Glob BO". See the following link for more info: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/attack_sigs/s20430.html This is standard .Net code, so I'm not understanding why it would trigger such a response. Also,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
