How can i set the modems DTE speed at fixed to 9600 bps ?

I am able to do it with an analog phone line. The XTAPI forum and the

Hi,
I am having a problem with a replication over a Modem-Connection,
which works fine over LAN. Has anyone experienced this problem before?
Settings are:
2 SQL Servers 2000, SP3
on Windows 2000
Publischer Database ist about 3GB, Subscriber DB about 1,5GB
Publisher and Subscriber are connected via 56Kbit Dial-Up
--> The Replication worked fine now this way for about 6 Months now!

how can i check if modem is connected to the computert in a vb.net
application and if it doesn't exist, my application prompts user: plz check
or reconnect your modem and also if modem exists the user must be able to
change it's settings from within my application.
I'm sure that all of it is possible to do but i don't know the way.

I would like to figure out how to detect an IP address change for an
XP/Win2K3 machine that is leasing an IP via DHCP (and do it in C#)...
Is there any event that indicates an IP address change?... I really
don't want to poll for a change.
I would like to get an event indicating the IP address has changed and
propogate that change to other levels of my app.

Is it POSSIBLE to get notified when the machine is connected to the
internet or disconnected from the internet? I mean, using .NET class
not using Windows API. Other than pinging a website continuously at a
time interval. If it is impossible, please answer NO to my question.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
