Why is there no standardized and well-working way for a web-page to
offer the font for download/embed it, in order to be displayed on the
page?
No matter what you think of the preferred font of a designer, many
web-sites offer an image of the text instead to "force" this font --
which certainly can't be the solution (it's a bit of a hassle to
maintain and create).

I am playing with setting font sizes in CSS using em as unit of
measurement. All seems to be fine. Even Netscape Navigator shows the
characters very similar to IE, what is not the kind if px is used!
But!
when selecting the "Larger" or "Smaller" command from the menubar in
IE, font sizes increases from normal (1em) to, say, 6em or so _in the
first step_!!!
In the next step it seems to be 20em or say. Choosing "Smaller" makes
the text...

Hi all,
Attempting to do css for cross platform/browser compatibility. Have an issue
with IE6 sp1 running on NT4.
When using IE6 sp1, example 1 works fine, example 2 produces unreadable
text. Rectangular blocks and symbols. Is this unreadable serif font deal a
known bug? Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,

We have a content management system which allows our users to enter
html into pages on the site but they often just paste in from Word and
fill the site with word and html tags.
Our content management system will attempt to clean the code but
leaves some tags like the font tag untouched. Ideally the management
system would allow us to filter all tags we don't want out. But is
there anything in CSS which may also help to override font...

I've got a problem that IE doesn't seem to use the entire font unicode
subgroups from a hinted font file. When I display the following web page in
IE 6 as opposed to Firefox 1.0 PR.
Check out the web page in question...
http://clientserver.home.comcast.net/unicode.html
If you examine, for a few examples, characters such as square root
(√), prime (′) and double prime (″).

I am having some issues with Firefox not rendering an element with the
correct font. I am using the font-family style within a stylesheet class
definition. I then set the element I am creating to use that class and the
font is not showing correctly. If I set the font-family to "arial" or
"Comic Sans MS" the font shows correctly, however I am trying to use the
"Webdings" font, which is installed on my computer. All fonts show
correctly...

The following code works in firefox. But IE displays the hyperlink at
font-size=13 rather than font-size=10. Why? If its a known IE bug, how
should I fix it? I always want the hyperlinks to take the size of the
next parent element's class.
thanks for the help,
Shashi

Sorry if the question is a bit basic.
I generally express my font sizes in pixels, originally to handle the
Macintosh/Windows font size differences (though I believe that they both
now treat points the same way, at least within the browser window).
It has been suggested that one should use ems to allow browsers to
increase or decrease the text size. However, I have never had trouble
with pixels.

Hello,
I have been reading a lot about fonts and I got to the following
conclusions:
1.Use % do define font size
2. Avoid defining font in Body and P tags
3. Avoid using Verdana
I understand the reason of point 1.

OK, so I have a blog. I downloaded the "theme" from somewhere and have edited a few areas to suit my needs. There are different font themes within the page theme. Long story short, my "Text Posts" are supposed to be in the font: Georgia, but they are showing up in "Times New Roman"...blah!
I can't find anything wrong in the code, but who am I trying to fool? I know nothing about this stuff. The code is below. The parts that I *think*...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
