Anybody using VPC for VS2005 Beta 2

Hi All,

Anybody using Virtual PC for development in VS2005. I am just checking
to get some views on speed, integrity before I spend time on this.

Thanks in advance,

Bob Hanson

Haven't tried VS2005 beta 2 in VPC yet but a VPC machine with Windows
2000 Pro was so sluggish on my system (P4 3.2 GHz, 1 GB RAM) that it
was basically unusable for anything but testing.

VMware 5 is a lot faster than VPC, and it lets several sessions share a
certain amount of memory. It can also import VPC images.

Be advised though: when you create a new virtual machine using either
product, you first need to install Windows XP and then upgrade to SP2.

Make sure you have a licensed WinXP, or the whole thing will stop
working one day.

Hi, Does anyone have an idea if MS will support MMC snap-in development in the managed env in VS2005( proper development and not the COM interop solution )? whatever preview of VS 2005 that is available on the MS site does not mention anything whether they'll support this. Thanks in advance..

I have been trying to port my existing VS2003 code to VS2005 Beta 2 (Ver 8.0.50712.6 lab23df .050712-0600), the VS2005 IDE crashes without warning. My question is VS2005 beta 2, stable enough for development or am I having problems because of my installation.?

Hi! Latest Windows Update broke my VS2005 Beta. I cannot uninstall, repair, etc. I am ready to buy a licence but in Italy it isn't available yet. I am ready to install a 90day trial but the download is not available too. How can I go on with my projects? Is, the version after Beta 2, affect by this problem?

Hi all, I hope I picked up the right group ;) A few days ago I installed the VS2005 Beta and started playing with it. First of all the (Profile Guided Optimizations) PGO Feature looks very cool :) After some reading and testing, I got it to work. I followed this article:

Hi guys I have a problem. I'm having a lot of problems with the "very known bug" of Visual C# deleting bits of code when you fast-switch between designer and code. It keeps deleting my entire OnInit(), which for a wizard-like page, contains quite a lot of code! I've spoken to various MVP leads on this issue, and the best solution they can come up with is "dont use Designer", which isn't really very helpful, is it? After all, I did...

Neither MSDN code examples nor will function. Has anybody figured out how to use the 2.0 classes, methods and properties to dynamically create HTML in the HTML <head> element? Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
