Is it possible in C# .NET to create a window that is always on top of
all other windows, while at the same time being partially transparent?
If not in C# .NET, how about in C++ .NET?
As an example that this kind of thing is possible, the splash screen
of Adobe Reader (formely Acrobat) seems to be partially transparent.
If you have a code snippet of how something like this could be done,
that would be great.

Am I right in thinking that images with transparent areas (GIFs or
PNGs) should allow clicks to "pass through" to any underlying elements
behind them?
I have had no luck getting this to work in IE or Firefox. I have tried
GIF and PNG with 'binary' transparency and PNG24 with 'alpha'
transparency (obviously the latter won't work in IE without the
AlphaImageLoader trick).
Here is a test page for you to see it not working in action:

My text boxes are transparent in that the backgrornd is visible behing the window containing the text box. This occurs when the BackColor property is Window. In some projects this does not happen so I suspect their is some property or setting causing this. If I choose a BackColor of Info, they are not transparent. How can I avoid transparent Text Boxes when using Window BackColor?
Thanks,

Hi,
I've set the TransparencyKey of a form to black. That means, all black
pixel will be shown transparent within the drawing content of that form. If
I set the background to black, I can see the underlying window (ie. Desktop
or IE). But when I want to draw with the mouse inside that transparent
area, my form/window lost its focus (TopMost=true). Even when I'm just
moving the mouse, I can see, that I'm "touching" the underlying content...

Hi all!
I am working with a project and want to make a form that is truely
transparent.
(Se through and click through.)
I can make it transparent by setting the Opaqe property, and by
setting the TransparencyKey colour I can make it click through in
parts that then becomes invisible.
But I want the hole form to be "click through". All controls, frames,
bars and everything!
It seems that there is no support for that in VB.net, but I have...

Hello, I started working as a Sales Associate for a new solar power company called Citizenre. On the bottom of page http://renu.citizenre.com/index.php?c=1171861484 is a link to a map of the U.S. On that map you can click on any state to see what utility companies allow "net metering" in that state. When I click on a state on the map, a window comes up that has the state, but the list is only partially on the window. No matter how I try to...

I am trying ( so far in vain ) to display a normal looking ( non-transparent ) control in a transparent window. I am attempting this in C++, on Vista ( argh ), and having no luck at all. Our transparent window has been accomplished with the infamous "DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea()" call, which of course implies that "composition" is enabled.
If someone can tell me how to simply render an icon or bitmap so that it is not see-through, I would...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
