Determining image sizes

Hi,

I have a program where I load images to a screen. How would I go about
determining the size of an image prior to loading it on the screen?
Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,

Um, Image.Size would be a good start :)
With Framework 2.0 the PictureBox has a PictureBoxSizeM ode.Zoom that will
fill the PictureBox while also retaining proportions. In the mean time,
you could set the PictureBox.Size Mode to StretchImage and adjust the size
of the PictureBox to retain proportions

Scale = Math.Min(Screen .Width/Image.Size.Widt h,
Screen.Height/Image.Size.Heig ht)
PictureBox.Size = Image.Size * Scale

Happy Coding!

I'm hoping that someone can explain what's going on; better yet provide a workaround. I'm designing a centered CSS site based on a 550 pixel wide vertical background image. Onto this background I built a two column layout with nested navigation and content divs. The background image is centered via "background: ... center;", the divs are centered over it via "margin: 0 auto 0 auto;". The problem I'm having in IE6 is inconsistent...

after I changed the image size. I tried different combinations of images sizes and button sizes. I have tried both botton and the image in the same sizes or button size was larger than that of image. The images were still invisible. What is the trick? I asked this question a while ago. Thanks.

Howdy, I have a function that uploads an image and that works great. I love ..Nets built in upload, so much easier than 3rd party uploaders! Now I am making a public function that will take the path of the uploaded image, and resize it with the provided dimensions. My function is below. The current function is returning an error when run from the upload function: A generic error occurred in GDI+. Not sure what exactly that means. From what...

Hello, I am trying to do a simple (ha ha) bit of image replacement, so that the 'v' in a string of text inside an <h3> is replaced with an image of a tick that looks like a 'v' to fit with a company logo (imagine "Ferretweave" with the 'v' replaced by a tick instead of the letter). I have tried various things, but have not had any success yet, mainly because all of the IR techniques I have seen seem to depend on the element that...

Hi there, I have a strange problem in Internet Explorer (IE6 and IE7). I'm writing a JavaScript application which allows the user to edit a photo composition. So when the user selects a photo then a frame is drawn around it with resize and rotate buttons. Now it happened to me that I replaced these buttons (32x32) with larger images (48x48). The filenames were not changed, I only copied the new images over the old ones. Then I reloaded the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
