In my view I doubt serious applications will have any advantage of
developing in WPF, eg. banking related applications, I don't see need of
high graphical effects.

Interesting issue raised.. any more comments from others..

The application which we are developing is data centric i.e. will be
frequently accessing data.
But in case of WPF web based applicartion (or XBAP, XAML Browser
Application), we can only access data using web service and as per my
thinking it will not be
as efficient as regular .Net web based application.

Any more comments from others...

Not much expertise on XSLT and trying to understand it's uses when creating apps in VS.NET? If I wanted flexibility on the UI (View aspect of M.V.C.): - How does it compare with creating business components that can be consumed by WebForms, WinForms, mobile devices, etc? Is it even fair to compare the such technologies? - How about for cases when you need to display dynamic elements on the form/grid (as compared to knowing data elements...

Hi, Just wondering what sort of problems and advantages people have found using stored procedures. I have an app developed in VB6 & VB.NET and our developers are starting to re-write some of the code in stored procedures (im advocating encryption of them). When deploying an application however stored procedure seem to add another level of complexity to installation. In future we also plan to have an basic ASP app with some of the...

I'm on a team building some class libraries to be used by many other projects. Some members of our team insist that "All public methods should be virtual" just in case "anything needs to be changed". This is very much against my instincts. Can anyone offer some solid design guidelines for me? Thanks in advance....

This is part of a series examining the strengths and weaknesses of various scripting languages, with particular attention to enterprise (read: big company) use. You Used Python to Write WHAT? Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
