i want to implement authorization with windows authentication and don't
have the slightest clue of how to do this implementation. the basic
windows authentication for this .NET application is already setup. my
problem lies within my inability to manipulate the username captured in
the authentication process and my knowledge of how IIS is involved.
specifically, i have the following questions:
1) what object(s) can be used so that the...

All-
I am having a problem where my DB2 administrator account on Windows
(db2admin) is losing its local Administrator privledges. This happens
randomly throughout the day with no ryhme or reason.
Of course this causes tons of problems while things are running
throughout the day (LDAP is using DB2).
I continually must go into the Computer Management>Local Users... and

Objective: create a simple windows application .exe file that I can load up
on our secure web site, direct a user to the url, and have them download the
..exe and it runs beautifully on their desktop without an install program.
It would be distributed to only a handful of users that have access to our
secure site. The application does some simple data reads and writes. The
program complies to a single .EXE and does not create any...

Hey all,
I would like to preface my question by stating I am still learning ASP.net
and while I am confident in the basics and foundation, the more advanced
stuff is still a challenge. Ok. :)

I'm hoping to get a response from developers with experience in both
developing applications for Windows and the Web using VS.NET2005. I'm
looking for input as to why we would want to develop a web application
versus a Windows Application. I know all the standard reasons,
Availability, Easier Deployment (although that is really not an issue
any more with Windows Apps in .NET), etc, I'm looking for more better
reasons why we should develop...

I'm looking to provide users of a new Windows Forms (2.0) app with a
messaging system that looks and feels very much like a typical news reader.
I understand that there are reference apps available for ASP.NET forums
(DNN, for example). But what about for Windows Forms? Are there any
reference apps that I may be able to disect/emulate? If not, what controls
would be involved in the creation of such a feature for a Windows Forms app?...

I'm looking for a safe and maintainable way to store connection string info
(connecting to SQL Server 2005 from .NET 2.0 Windows Forms client app);
things like server name or IP address and database name. I need to provide
the client application with this info for connecting to both a test SQL
Server and a production server.
I would prefer to NOT hard-code this info into the client application, and
App.Config seems rather unsafe as the...

Hello,
I'm thinking of creating a Windows service to backup a small enterprise system running on an Oracle database. My idea is to create a Windows service on the main server and also each remote file server, so that the main server can control the entire backup sequence, including the start time, through service-to-service remoting (or with the new WCF).
My dilemma basically comes down to using Windows services or plain old EXEs. I don't...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
