Access Data Without Downloading?!

Hi all,
I was wondering if there was a way a client's machine could play audio or
view a word document which is stored on the server, without having them
download it first.
This will be done over the web with an asp.net application.

Thanks for the reply,
It's good to know we can play audio and video files without downloading,
that's perfect.. but could you show an example of how we can play them in
asp.net code.. not the html side code, because we need to change the file
each time..

I've got RH9 Linux with default PHP. Is there a way to send email on Linux to an Exchange Server from PHP and/or other tools when there is *NOT* SMTP access? Has anyone figured out a way to use PHP to get inside an OWA (Microsoft Outlook Web Access) website to send email that way? The reason I ask is because my corporate office is going to do away with our rogue SMTP server access and force everything through Exchange

I have an application written in Access 2000 that I distribute to a number of organisations who use it on a variety of platforms, ranging from a P75 running Windows 95 to modern XP machines. It has about 40 forms and reports and 25K lines of VBA. I would like to distribute it over the Internet, but I have to send Access Runtime with the application. This makes the distributable much too big to download over an ordinary modem, which...

I'm somewhat of a newbie at this, and a bit overwhelmed at all the information (ODBC, ASP, VB, etc). I'm doing a little work on Access for a small company, and someone had the brainstorm that we could put the Access database on the company's website so that everyone in the company could use it from different offices/home (there are only about 5 or 6 of us). I called our site host, and they setup a DNS for us (at least they said they...

I am so mad at microsoft right now! They just told me - 10 days after I placed my order for an upgrade to Office 2003 Pro - that they canceled the order because the credit card info didn't match the shipping info. (It did match, unless I made an error entering the credit card number on line! But they had my phone number, and email address, so 10 days is no excuse.) Now I am in a bind, and so asking for help. Is there any program that...

I have been working with an A97 database that performs a data processing function. It imports data from a flat text file then uses a dao transaction that executes a number of sql statements (about 30 in all) to append to various tables, delete records, copy from table A to table B etc, ultimately downloading to a series of text files that contain 'processed data'. The issue is that on the odd occasion (this process is executed every...

Dear Sirs, Is there a way to get the width and height of an image without downloading the image, or with just downloading a minimal portion of the image? For instance, I have a list of 10,000 image urls, and I would like to get the width and height of every image without spending the time and bandwidth of downloading every image.

Is there a way to find out where an application was created from? i.e. - work or home i.e. - if application sits on a (work) server/network, the IT people know the application is sitting there, but is there a way they can find out if that application was put there from a CD or email or created at work? Hint: It's not on a client/server database, just native jet database mdb created on Access 2003 (default 2000)...

I am trying to access the binary data of PDFs in my C# .NET 2.0 project. I have a URL that points directly to the PDF, but when I tell my WebBrowser to retrieve it, it stalls and never finishes downloading the document. I can't use an HttpWebRequest to get the PDF from this URL, because the server that the PDF is hosted on requires script-based authentication, which means I need to use a WebBrowser to do everything. The authentication is...

I have written two windows services: - service A does some crunching of local data files and uploads them to a central processing computer via http. - service B monitors a manifest file on a webserver to see if service A needs to be updated. What service B does if it sees their is an update for service A is to download a new copy of the service A executable, stop service A, replace the executable with the new copy, and start service B...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
