developing on an XP box and deploying to a W2K3Server?

I am deploying webapps using XP (IIS5) and deploying them to a Windows 2003
Server box (IIS6). So far so good. However, when I try to manage my w2k3
server from XP, I get an error message saying I can't manage an IIS6 box
from IIS5. Is anyone else seeing this?

Can I take my w2k3 server CDs and install IIS6 on my XP box? Do I have to
uninstall of IIS5 first?

Thanks.

Flip:

You cannot install IIS 6 on XP.

Two options:

You could use remote desktop connection to login to the 2003 machine
and manage IIS.

I think Microsoft as world leader in software developing business must have a very good workflow. Does anyone know how the development flow @ Microsoft looks like?

Hi all, I'm using Visual C# Express and Visual Web Developer Express. It just occured to me, that there seems to be no way to develop a web service to be consumed in VWD and use it in VC#, since the web service is run on a random port etc. Is this deliberate? An oversight? Any way around it? I develop on XP Home (sorry, laptop came with it!) so I have no IIS to "deploy" the web service to while developing, and I like being able to...

I'm going to be developing a new home page for my company's intranet. This page will have web parts on it that can be customized by registered users (employees). My development computer has SQL Server 2005 Express installed so my application uses that by default to handle the personalization. However, the production server does not have and won't have it. I do have access to a full version of SQL Server 2005. So: 1. How can I configure...

Could someone give me a few bullet point notes on how I go about developing a system that can be deployed both as an ASP intranet as well as a stand alone EXE. In essence we are aiming to provide both ASP/EXE to our clients, but to try an minimise the amount of development work involved with maintaining the applications. This would take over from a standard ASP Intranet and stand-alone Access applications (of course, the latter being a...

Hello, I am planning on developing a windows service in C# using VS 2005 on a Vista 32bit operating system. I am going to be deploying this windows service on a 2003 server in our Production environment. My question, does anyone know in advance if the Windows Service will run on 2003 server? Or should I just develop the C# windows service using VS 2003 on an XP operating system since I know it will run / work on 2003 server when I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
