Hi
I am currently learning JS and have heard a lot of good about that
book even if it's a reference and better suited for intermediate to
experienced users.
My local bookstore has both the 3rd and 4th edition and the 3rd is at
a fraction of the 4th ed. price.
Is it a mistake to grab the 3rd ed. instead of the 4th. in order to
save money ?

There have been several postings recently dealing with bugs in
Internet Explorer. Can anyone point me to a review of these bugs and
how to work around them?

I have been given a task to reasearch multicasting, specifically with the
transmission of streaming media.
I honestly have no clue about what multicating is and more so how or when to
implement it.
Could someone point me to a few good resources, or shed some insight?

Is there something special I need to do to send data to a multicast IP and
have it go across a router? Router is a Win2000 Server connecting 2
networks via RRAS PPTP. The routing appears to be working because I can
ping the multicast address and get responses from the server on the other
network. I didn't think ping would work like that but as long as I have the
server process running I can ping the multicast IP and get a response. The...

I have a computer with two network cards (attached to seperate networks) and
I am having trouble getting my C# application to send its multicast packets
on a specific one. It receives just fine (I'm assuming because its listening
to both networks), but it seems like it just picks the default to send over.
I have implemented the MulticastOption(RemoteIP, LocalIP), but it doesn't
seem to be changing the interface it sends over.
Here's...

I've got a strange problem receiving multicast packets in a C#
application. What's strange is that it works *sometimes* but not always.
I create a socket, call bind(), set the multicast socket option and then
fire off a thread that calls "receiveFrom()" in a loop. This works
sometimes, but other times it'll get into a funk where the
"receiveFrom()" call doesn't return even though a packet trace capture
(Ethereal) shows that the...

Hi guys,
I have a daemon running on Debian and listening for multicast packets
sent to 224.0.0.251:5353 (ZeroConf Multicast DNS queries).
The server is plugged into a VLAN trunk with eth0 and joins several
VLANs using virtual interfaces (i.e. eth0.xxx). It should be able to
capture the UDP packets on any interfaces, so it spawns a thread for
each interface specified in a config file, and for each thread it
creates a socket:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
