Need local time from global server

Hello all,

I need to know the local time for users of a global system.

Here's the scenario: My server (PDT time) hosts commerce for companies
around the world. It's fair to assume that those companies' customers are all
local to that company. With each transaction I get the current time, and
store as UTC/GMT. But when I want to show the time back to the user, I want
to show in *his* local time.

So, I'd like a way to "pretend" I'm in a particular time zone, which I would
get from the appropriate company record, and which I'd then use to get the
local time from UTC. But, I'm not seeing in the docs how to get anything
other than the server's own system time. What I don't want to have to do is
store my own offset to, say, GMT, because I don't want to worry about the ins
and outs of daylight savings times, etc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Bill Borg

I'm puzzled by Python's behavior when binding local variables which are introduced within exec() or execfile() statements. First, consider this simple Python program: # main.py def f() : x = 1 print "x:", x f()

I am in the process of learning Python (obsessively so). I've been through a few tutorials and read a Python book that was lent to me. I am now trying to put what I've learned to use by rewriting that Numerology program I wrote years ago in VB. There are times I am totally stuck (for instance, I just had an idea to put the numerical values of the alphabet and months of the year in a dictionary located in a function. Then, I can import the...

I can't seem to find a reference nor any helpful threads on this topic. I've gotten the following error in two circumstances: 1. A complex type has nested within it another complex type, in the "Russian doll" style of schema design, where the nested type is local and anonymous (not a separate global type). 2. A complex type has nested within it a simple type which is derived through restriction with at least one facet, again nested,...

Hi all. I have a form, and several text and image links on it that should submit the form with different actions. I prepared a simple page with just the code that's not working. PROBLEM: The form won't submit if the link is clicked, but will submit if the SUBMIT button is clicked. I need to call a function to change the form's action according to user's input before it is submitted.

I'm maintaining a C++ application written by a developer who has now left. The app is a multithreaded client/server app for financial data. My compiler is MS visual C++ 6.0. I'm a C++ neophyte. I took some C (not C++) courses in college, this is the only production C++ code I've worked with. I'm trying to add some logging, and having problems. My logging scheme is to have a global ofstream, which I initialize in a

Hello all. I program C++ since a lot of time now and I still don't know this simple thing: what's the problem with local functions so they are not part of C++ ? There surely are many people who will find them very helpfull. gcc has them as a non-standard option, but only when compiling C language code, so I'm afraid there might be some obscure reason why local functions are not so easy to be dealt with in C++, which I do not yet know.

Short Description of the Project: we developed a e-learning system for our students. each student has a unique username/password to view the modules he/she should view and nothing more. since we want to give them the opportunity to run these modules from home as well, we are trying to get the USERNAME/COMPUTERNAME as well, so the students, when they sign up for the modules, they can ONLY run the modules fromhome PC. We found a nice...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
