Help ... using Web Browser control in ASP.NET

I'm trying to open a word.doc in a web form using a Microsoft Web Browser control.

If I write a small project which simply executes the following line of code inside a script block in the HTML then it works fine... document.getEle mentById("Brows erControl").Nav igate("http://server/directory/filename.doc");

However if I add any more code above this line e.g. alert("hello"); I get the following error... 'Microsoft JScript runtime error: Permission denied’.

I've tried using <identity impersonate="tr ue"/> in the web.config and enabling anonymous access... but to no avail. I do have all permissions on the server where the word.doc lives. Is this somethng to do with the asp.net security framework …?
Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Sorry this isnt a cross post .. i just didnt get any help from alt.php. I have a website which utilises post forms for navigation in some areas. Problem is, when *some* users hit the BACK button the POSTDATA content has expired and they need to refresh the page then they get a alert about refreshing expired data. I am getting complaints that this is too annoying and limits the sites useability.

Hi I have designed my website to fit my standard windows. I use a javascript scroller that nescitates the removal of the browser scroll bars. However if a user has an extra toolbar open in his browser like a google or yahoo toolbar or a links toolbar it pushes the content down and slightly out of view. I don't want to use a pop up window with toolbars=0 as this is often blocked by software. What I would like is to open the...

I successfully create a .NET Component (Visual Basic .NET) that would print, unfortunately when used within a web browser it appears that .NET security doesn't allow you to run code that interacts with the file system (including printing) from the web browser. How do I disabled this so I can get my windows form control to work within IE? Also, do any have any printing code or know how I can implement multipage printing using the...

I have HTML web page with <asp:Image id=img_L runat=server ImageAlign=Top Visible=True Width=y Height=x></asp:Image>. For some images, less than 128K I can view image. Other image files > 128K, image is not viewable - comes up with X in picture box. Is there size restriction. How can I remove this - or how can I show images > 128K in web page. NOTE: x & y in asp:Image spec are distinct values - say 128 x 128 or 64 x 64 image sizes

I have an aspx page with a data grid, some textboxes, and an update button. This page also has one html input element with type=file (not inside the data grid and runat=server). The update button will verify the information that has been entered and updates the data base if the data is correct. Update will throw an exception if the data is not validate based on some given rules. I also have a custom error handling page to show the...

I am still working with no success on that client/server problem. I need your help. I will submit simplified versions of my problem so we can see clearly what is going on. My model: A client uses IE to talk with a server. The user on the client (IE) sees an ASP net page containing a TextBox. He can write some text in this text box and push a submit button.

Hello All, I'd like your comments on the code below. The sub does exactly what I want it to do but I don't feel that it is solid as all. It seems like I'm using some VB6 code, .Net2003 code, and .Net2005 code. I'm developing in vb.net 2005. This test sub just reads an input text file, writing out records to another text file, eliminating records that have a '99' in them (it is similar to a CSV file). Some of my concerns are:

I'm having the worst time trying to login to myspace through code. Can someone tell me how to do this? Please try it yourself before replying, only because I have asked this a couple of times in the past in other places, and while the help was much appreciated, it seemed everyone just wanted to 'theoretically' explain how to do it, but when I tried to do it myself, I couldn't login. I want to simply pass the email address and password to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
