Web Server on Port 8080

I have multiple development nodes on my network so each machine has a
different port for the web server. On one particular machine I'd like to
change the web port to 8080, but then when I try to start a new ASP.NET web
project and it goes out to check the server, it doesn't find it. I've tried
playing with the proxcfg.exe utility to change the default http: proxy
server to localhost:8080 but that doesn't seem to help.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Are you using VS.NET? If you specify the address http://mysite:8080 when you
create the Web application in VS.NET, does it create it and find it?

Yes, I'm using Visual Studio.Net. Where would I specify this each time I
start a new project? Is there someplace where I could just tell it to
permanently look at http://localhost:8080 instead of http://localhost which
it is now? (picture attached)

In a nutshell - the question I'm asking is, how do I make a socket conenction go via a proxy server ? All our internet traffic has to go through a proxy-server at location 'dav-serv:8080' and I need to make a socket connection through it. The reason (with code example) is as follows : I am hacking "Tiny HTTP Proxy" by SUZUKI Hisao to make an http proxy that modifies URLs. I haven't got very far - having started from zero knowledge of...

Sorry if this is a multiple post, but Google crashed when I posted. I'll be briefer this time. I've seen plenty of posts on this topic, but I'm still searching for a solution. I can't create new asp.net projects on one of my machines. When I try to create the project I get an error saying "The Web server reported the following error when attempting to create or open the Web project located at the following

hi all, I am trying to re-direct a html page to the root of a server (eg. localhost:8080/index.html). However the problem is that I dont want to hard code the name of the server (localhost) as it will change periodically. I want to reference just the server name (whatever it is) and then the port no and then the file name. I hope we can achieve this using Javascript. So far I have written:

Does anyone know of a way, using C#, to programmatically block a Windows port? I've looked into some low level solutions like NDIS, but am hoping to find something that uses C#. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any way to create a local server during runtime? For example, if you add an existing Web Site to a Solution from within Visual Studio (by right clicking the solution in the Solution Explorer, then selecting Add - Existing Web Site...), then Visual Studio will create an ASP.NET Development Server on a random port (e.g., http://localhost:1619/Test). Can a similar thing be done during runtime with VB.NET? If not, is it possible to...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
