Installing ASP.NET application on IIS running on port 8080

Hello,
I have built a ASP.NET application and created a installer with the help of
deployment wizard given in Visual Studio DotNet.

But I am unable to install the application when IIS is running on port
8080, it gets installed when IIS is running on default port 80.

The problem I faced is that I needed to create a folder in Program Files
folder, but when IIS is running on port 8080 the installer is not able to
create this folder in Program Files folder instead the folder is created
inside the virtual application folder.

I had this problem at a prior work assignment. We got rid of the installer
rather than solve the problem, however. The direction I would look is at
custom installer(s), as they will give you the ability to override the normal
install. I am not fully confident this scenario was envisioned, so it may not
work.

I have various small html websites on my windows server 2003 pc, these function quite happily from directories under D:\websites via ports 81, 8081, 8091, 8082 and of course there is the dafault web site on port 80. I have installed MySQL 5.0.0 and php 4.3.8, but i can't get them to work for another website on port 8090. If I use the command line and go to c:/php and run php -i, I can see the test_info file information, including the...

Does anyone know of a way, using C#, to programmatically block a Windows port? I've looked into some low level solutions like NDIS, but am hoping to find something that uses C#. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm running WebMatrix, v. 0.6.812, over WinXP/SP2 with .Net Framework 1.0 & 1.1. I'm following the examples in ASP.NET Web Matrix Project Guided Tour, specifically the 2nd example at http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tour/section1/addbasiccontrols.aspx. When testing the 2nd example, I accepted the default port (8080) for the WebMatrix web server and got the message "Port already in use ...".

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has tried a scenario that I'm thinking of. At my job we've got a web based product provided by Apache running PHP that accesses MySQL. This web application is hosted by multiple servers behind a load balancer because of the user load on the system. However, we've still had times when the servers got over run and Apache maxes out on the number of httpd processes (257) and falls behind to the point of...

I created asp.net project with location http://localhost/proj1, which works fine. Now I found out that I have to change port from 80 to 8080. I changed TCP port for deafult website from 80 to 8080 and restarted IIS. Checked http://localhost:8080 works fine. Here is a newbie question: how do I get the server examples in the Preview chapter of "Progamming Python" (Lutz) to run? The code is supposed to be a little webserver on which to run examples, but when I run it it I get "permission denied". Running it as root gets "address already in use". Here is the code (it's example 2.32); comments are from Lutz, not me: webdir = '.' # where your html files and cgi-bin script directory live

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
