I want to develop a Client/Server messaging system that
does not require Microsoft messaging. I want to use
the .Net remoting, but I am having some real problems with
the remoting. The remoting really seems to be a one way
street in terms of messaging. Ex.( The Client can
communicate with the server and get information back from
the server, but the server cannot make a call to the
client unless you set up another remoting session were the...

Read below for previous conversation.
We are developing an application that will some day run on
anything from a computer down to a PDA (this is were the
Lightweight comes in). The messaging that we want to send
will be very straightforward. If one of the clients has
changed some data, the other clients need to know about
it. If the clients are not on line then the message may
have to wait until they are on line. The messages

When I do something like this
For Each ip As System.Net.IPAddress _
In System.Net.Dns.GetHostByName(strDomain).AddressList
MessageBox.Show(ip.ToString)
Next ip
would it be correct to assume that GetHostByName uses my local DNS
server to perform the translation. If so, is there a way to extract the
i.p.(or host name/address ) of this server, as I need to query it directly.

I am starting the design phase of a large project (ERP) where the
backend will mostly be Python (or Ruby) providing web services.
In this type of usage, is there any benenfit to running under Apache
as opposed to a pure Python solution using Medusa, TwistedMatrix, or
the like?
Thanks,
Matt

Hello,
I'm writing a server client application and I'm having a terrible time
getting one section to work. This is my first time using .net remoting, so
please bear with me if I'm doing something incorrectly. To give a brief
layout of my program, the server side hosts a series of functions for running
tests, this server application will run on four separate boxes. My client
application has access to all four of the server...

Hi,
We have an winodws application being developed in .net 2.0 with c#.
There are different users which can work on the same data.
One user needs to send data to another, when both of them are logged in the
application and then the second one can reply..
Any pointers to Instant messaging type functionality. How to go about i t??

I would like to know if there is a special protocol in the communication
between SQL SERVER client and databse system. What is the messaging pattern?
Thank you for any help.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
