Instant messaging type Function...

Hi,
We have an winodws application being developed in .net 2.0 with c#.

There are different users which can work on the same data.
One user needs to send data to another, when both of them are logged in the
application and then the second one can reply..

Any pointers to Instant messaging type functionality. How to go about i t??

Hi,
You could start by using the NetSend API (creates a popup message on
another computer given its machinename/ip address). This may have been
disabled on your network though since it is open to abuse.

Otherwise, you need to create your own messaging client/server - there
are plenty of examples on google

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...t+server&meta=

James

I want to be able to log all the Instant Messaging (in this case MSN) which is occuring on my computer. Don't really want to buy one of those products that does, so any thoughts on how this might be done? is C++ even the right way to approach it?

Hi, i have been looking at SOAP and XML-RPC and it seems ideal for my needs. I am looking at an application with 2 end points, either of which can send and receive data. I know with SOAP (and varients) that requests are issued to a server rather than in a bidirectional manner which i need. this has left me wondering how instant messaging software works (i believe jabber can make RPC calls and uses SOAP)? I dont want to poll the server...

Hi Everyone, My apologies for a somewhat dump question but I am really stuck. I have been working on this code for two days straight I am dont know what is wrong with it. when I run the code, All I get is Input: and the program quits. I also tried reading this online but I didn't quite get it. What is the diff between sin_addr and sin_addr.s_addr. My understanding is that the latter is the IP address of my machine where as the former is...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
