Why are some basic fields not available in my linked table? (outlook calendar-Access)

8 New Member
I've established a linked table between my Access DB and an Outlook Calendar. The intent is to use the Calendar as a means to report time spent on a job. However some essential fields do not seem to exist in my linked table; "Start Date/Time", "End Time/Date" for example. Any ideas as to why? or how i can work around this?

I tried it, and it seems to work as a message container rather than a Calendar container. It does say it's a MAPI interface link, so I'm not sure if Calendar items really come under that (It's a Messaging API), but I'm just guessing I'm afraid.

Older versions however this should point you in the right direction(s?):
-ACC: Using Automation to Add Appointments to Microsoft Outlook
-OFFICE-Archive: VBA code to insert appointment in Outlook
Ok, I know... both point to placing the appointment within Outlook; however, these should give you an idea on how to extract that information.

When I post the links I open the page first to make sure they still work and then C&P from the nav-bar to the post. I was dealing with a few home things and must have mis-clicked. Silly Me.\\ fixed now.

I'm having some trouble working with an ODBC query of a large SQL Server table in Access. The table is ~440 fields in size (I know, but its not my database). I only need about six of these fields but Access' interface to ODBC doesn't let me select single fields--instead, it just grabs the first 255. The really irritating thing is that Excel/MS Query do allow selection of individual fields. Is there any way to choose which fields...

I have a VBA subroutine that links an MS Excel spreadsheet and copies the data into a local table. This process is controlled by a form that allows users to select the spreadsheet from the file system. I actually import from two different named ranges from each workbook so for every import the following subroutine is used twice. The database is used to collate data collected from different surveys entered by remote users into an Excel...

How to run action query against linked table? I have an Access 2003 mdb with an Excel 2003 Workbook as a linked table. When I attempt to run an action query against the linked table I get this error: Deleting data in a linked table is not supported by this ISAM. From what I understand, indexed sequential access method (ISAM) drivers are used to update "non-Microsoft" file formats. So why doesn't Access

Hi, I built an asp.net application that displays a calendar with some events. However, I'd like to add some functionality to allow users to click on an event and create an outlook calendar entry. I've noticed some web sites have that. They provide a link that when clicked, you download a file (don't remember the extension), which is a new entry in your calendar and then all you have to do is click on "Save" and you have it.

I am trying to create a VB.NET Windows application to move some data from a local Access DB table to a table in a SQL Server. The approach I am trying is to open an OLEDB connection to the local Access DB and then add a Linked Table pointing to the table on the SQL Server and then run an "Insert Into (linked table)" query to add the new rows. I am having a problem getting the syntax to add that linked table to my local Access DB. When I...

I have a table in my database that is linked to an excel spreadsheet. I need to be able to manipulate the data in this linked table so that I can create smaller normalized tables that work with what I am trying to do (all data used in my db will come from this one spreadsheet). I am currently trying to utilize the make-table queries to create the tables that I need from this data, however I am unsure of how to add foreign keys to a...

Hi: I need to automate outlook to send an email to me when my Outlook calendar is updated but i am not at my desk. I have written a code that will compile and tabulate my calendar for the day, place this in an email, and send it to me. But, i cannot figure how to get this script to automatically execute when a new appointment lands in my calendar. From the calendar/appointments objects i can see that this is possible if I myself change my...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
