121 New Member
Hi,

I am using access 2007 and i am trying to link to a contacts folder in outlook I have done this by going to external data/import/more then outlook folder this all works fine but if i link the table instead of importing the table the linked table does not create a unique ID is there anyway of genereting a unique ID? The same also is true when i link to a calendar

Is the linked table updatable (can you add a field)?

The logic of determining a value is straightforward enough, but if there's nowhere to store it, or you will be unable to create an index even if it can be stored, then I don't see any point in progressing.

Hi Neopa

Thanks for the reply

No the table is not updatable it says that you have to change the values in the source database...

is there any way of telling outlook what fields it shouold be exporting and do you know if the contact in outlook has a unique ID?

I'm afraid I have very little idea Phill. I never play in Outlook.

I can only suggest you explore using the Object Browser (F2 from within the VBA window). It looks like a ContactItem is your first port of interest.

Good luck.

Can anyone provide a small snippet in C# that pulls out the Contacts in Outlook XP. I've seen a couple of examples in C++ and VB in previous newsgroup posts, but either the originals didn't work or my conversion skills are weak. And if I have to use tlbimp.exe what is the right file to use. Thanks for the help. -- Fritz

Would anyone be willing to beta test my application for me and give me some feedback? I can give you feedback in exchange (ie. if there are parts you're interested in knowing how it was done) or I can give you a free license if you want to use it. It should install OK but that is part of the problem that needs to be verified on all platforms so that people can just download it in the future, install and use it. It has an mde front...

I've heard that there was a linking utility that would permit me to link a table or query to my outlook address book. Can anyone tell me where to find this linking utility and how it works? The links that I found on the WEB no longer existed. I want to be able to select names to send emails to from Outlook without having to import them so that my changes to the database will always be refelcted in the outlook address.

Hi, Using MS Access, I linked a database to outlook contacts. Changes in an outlook contact appear in access database as expected, and changed to the db appear in outlook as expected. If I place the Access db in a shared folder, is it possible to link another PC running outlook to the same db, using a unc (to identify the remote server)?

Hi all My access database has import/export capabiltiy of contact details between outlook. The database is getting big now (1000+ contacts) and so are the outlook address books that have the contacts info in them. When I export contacts from access to outlook, it takes a long time because there are so many contacts in the Outlook address book, and it is checking all of these against the contacts coming in, so as to avoid duplicates....

I am running MS Access 2007 and I want to update an Outlook Address book from my Access Database. I started out by importing the Outlook Address Book as a linked table and it linked fine. I then built a query to filter a master contact list of contacts and I made it an append query to added to the linked Outlook address book table. However, I am getting an error message that says I do not have the necessary permissions to use this object. At...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
