Query Limit in Access

1 New Member
Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there could help me. I've developed a database in Access which pretty much consists of a bunch of queries which churns data from linked tables and then produces a bunch of output tables whcih I then use to base my forms on...which in turn are used to generate a report (subforms etc)!

I know there is a limit or a point you can hit in MS Access where if wont run any more queries but I thought I got rid of that problem by running the queries to output tables and then running the foms (and in turn the report) off the output tables rather than the queries. Yet I have a union query which I've just updated and it wont work. I'm using standard logic to build the union query and its a very similar query to others I already have working in the database (its just using a different source data/linked table) and yet it wont generate the correct answer.

Any ideas on why I'm hitting the wall here in Access?

Can't tell whether you are running into Access Limitations based on the info you provided. See the link below for Access Specs and Limits that you can use to make your own determination.

Hello, I'm quite weak at PHP, so I was hoping to get some help understanding the below code. First off, I'm trying to create a "query form" that will allow me to display the results on my screen. I grabbed this code from the net hoping that I could tweak it for my needs. I'm using MySQL, PHP and IIS and they all are running fine. As the code is, it will display the form, but it won't display my result(s). Any suggestions? Cheers,

I would like help resolving this problem. I'm a novice who's been hired to query a hospital database and extract useful information, available to me only in a dynamically generated, downloadable .mdb. The query below query runs correctly and without error, but any attempt to save it causes Access to crash without a message, leaving the .ldb file. Opening the DB reveals it saved a blank "query1". I've upgraded to Jet SP 8, and I'm running...

I'm having a problem running a query. I get the "too many fields" error message, but I only have 162 fields in the query and I thought the limit was 255. The problem query (Query1) is based on query2 that pulls together records from two tables. Could the problem be that some of the fields in Query1 use expressions using (SELECT "", "query2",">3")? The rest of the fields in Query1 just use Avg. Thanks in advance, Ian

Is there a limitation to the number of columns you can define in the Query Builder of a data adapter? it seems the limit is around 96. i know i can split the query into two parts, but then it would increase the number of total queries i have to make by a factor or 2. i tried using Select * but that didn't work. is this a real limit? can i work around it somehow? thanks for your help m

I have a pretty simple select query that joins a table (p) with 125K rows with another table (pc) with almost one million rows: select p.* from product_categories pc inner join products p on pc.product_id = p.id where pc.category_id = $category_id order by p.title

I'm using Access 2000, and I don't know a lot about Access. My data has fields that hold a code for a time period. For instance, one time period might be '2006010' and that refers to a time period in 2006. These time periods sort as text correctly (so 20060010 is always before 20060011), but numbers may be skipped (so there may be 20060012 and 20060014 but no 20060013). I didn't make this database, so I have to use that data as-is. What I...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
