This is driving me crazy!! I'm using MSACCESS, and all I want to do is
create a macro/query/anything that will take the data in Column A and
copy it into Column B (same table)
"Insert into" ALMOST works ... unfortunately it adds the data at the
END of Column B ... and I need Column B to be an exact replica of
Column A (but with a different name of course).
Right now I have my users doing it manually, but I really want to
automate it...

Hello,
This may be very elementary, but, need help because I am new to access
programming.
(1) Say, I have a column EMPLOYEE_NAME. How do I fetch (maybe, cursor
?) the values one by one and populate a combo box with these names.
(this way, I can display all the EMPLOYEE_NAME values)
(2) In general, can I do additional processing on column values from

Hello,
Since I cannot query a DataSet directly, and I would like to maintain
it's data, how would I use an adapter (SqlDataAdapter or DataAdapter) to
query this DataSet.
Example: Could I?
SqlDataAdapter adapter = new SqlDataAdapter();

I'm working on a project in VB.net connecting to a SQL Server 2000 database
that I can't modify
I created a dataset with a schema identical to the DB.
When trying to update the DB from the dataset using the dataAdapter.update
sub, I get an error.
The problem seems to be that one of the fields was named 'desc' which is a
reserved word for SQL.
I've been able to work around this design flaw 'till now but it looks like
the update sub can't...

I am trying to name the columns in my datagrid. In VB6 it
was one line of code:
Datagrid1.columns(0).caption = "Item"
I cannot seem to get this to work... Below is the code I'm
using in VB.NET. Yet, it's not naming the Column Header.
strsql = "Select * from where item_identifier = "
& Val(TextBox5.Text) & " order by
action_current_status_date desc"

So I'm trying to make an application that currently works with MySql,
Postgre, etc... work with DB2.
THe problem I have, is, the varchar column only goes to 32k. CLOB goes
bigger, but at a major cost. SELECT DISTINCT, UPPER,LOWER, ORDER BY,
GROUP BY, among other things don't work on CLOB columns.
Without creating many resource robbing UDF's to emulate functionality,
is there something I'm missing? Is there a better way to store larger...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
