catch errors when scanning barcodes to database

1 New Member
Hello everyone. I am not really a databse pro like most of you here, but i did make a small access database for our warehouse to scan serial numbers into the system. I have a few questions if anyone could help me it would be great.

1st
Most of our products come on a palet and they are able to scan each one. Sometime we get a box or palet that has a two and from barcode. Is there anyway i can create some type of VB script which will allow them to double click on the field and then some box will popup that says "scan To Bar code"
then antoerh window for the "from bar code" Then it will count and put the amount in? not sure if i am explaining this correct, but!

2nd
Sometime we have a problem that while they are scanning they double scan a bar code and just a error code comes up and says no duplicate records. Is there anyway i can make it more professional like a critial warning popup and say. Opps you have scanned a barcode twice. Please delete the duplicate and start scanning again" who know something like this

I'm sorry there's not enough information here to help. We would need to see the code you are currently using.

Hello, As a .NET newbie I'd appreciate some advice... I've been tasked with writing a small app (in VB .NET) that takes some data from our HR system, does some format modifications, and loads that into Active Directory. For error handling of this app, I was considering having the app process each employee one at a time. If an error occurs, I was thinking that the system would handle the error with a Try/Catch, send the error details...

Hi all, This is probably not the group for this but I'm not sure quite where else to go. Does anyone know where to find the barcode standards for FedEx shipments of all types of shipping they perform. I'm looking to integrate this logic into a database and extract the tracking number and priority codes from the barcodes with a scanner. I've got the scanner working great but still need to find out what barcodes are used for what...

Howdy, I ran into a very interesting issue and I'm curios as to how this is suppose to work. I am using Try...Catch...Finally statements for all database connectivity in my ASP.NET 2.0 web application. I'm connecting to IBM's Universe 10.2 using UniObjects.Net. Anyway, if the connection errors, the Finally closes the connection. What I see happening is that the function in the Finally statement either isn't running or doesn't apply what...

Hi, I am in the design phase of building a database that will track the productivity of my warehouse. I am thinking of using a barcode scanner to assist me with this. Employees will hopefully be scanning a barcode which will communicate to the computer that the employee did some type of task. Employees will be identified by ID badges which will contain string data to identify them and hopefully log them in. Is this a good way to keep...

I need to have 2 simple barcode reader applications finished by midnight tonight. I have never written any barcode reader software and need any help that you may be able to offer. I do not know what type of barcode the user will have, so I need to be able to accept input from any industry standard barcode reader. I need to check the barcodes scanned to see if they are in a database of acceptable barcodes and simply show ACCEPT or...

I am looking for some feedback on using try catch statements. Usually when I start a project I use them for everything, but stop using them as often after the "meat n' potatos" of the project is finished. I am thinking it would be useful to at least have a blanket try-catch to surround all of the code, and add more to aid in debugging and catching specific exceptions. I want to change my habits but before I do I wanted to see if anyone...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
