I want to create two buttons on a form. One would allow the user to
Copy the contents of the current records memo field, the other would
allow them to print. I set up a report based on the memo field, and
it works. But, it seems wrong since I had to create a huge text box to
accommodate memo fields with a lot of text.

I have a memo field in a footer on a subform. When I print the form, all
data is printed except the data that was entered into the memo field. The
memo field itself is printed (the border), but the data is missing. The
following properties are set for the memo field:

Hello.
I am using an access 97 application that exports a report to RTF format,
which is subsequently emailed to various people.
The main informational field in the report is a free form memo field
which can be very short or very long.
When the report is created in access, the formatting is fine. If you
print it, is fine. No problem.

I've searched this goup for an answer to this, there are many
discussions that come close but non that I can find that actually
addresses this particular problem.
I'm exporting queries to Excel. These queries have memo fields in them
Each memo field is trunkated, i.e cuts off after 255 characters.
Is there any way either via VBA or otherwise to get all my memo text to
export to Excel.
I note that there is no such limit when exporting...

I've got two tables in sql2005 which have an 'ntext' field
when I linked the first table in access97 last week using an odbc data
source the access-field type was 'memo'
when I link the 2nd table today, it is linked as a text(255) field,
ditto for the first table if I link it today
if I link the 2nd table using access2003 (and the same odbc data
source) it is linked as a memo field

I have an access database, 2000, linked to SQL tables.
The primary SQL table includes some memo fields.
When I open the table in access, the memo fields are shown in full but when I include that field in a query the field is truncated to 255 characters.
The query selects all the fields from the main table and adds other information from other tables.
I have tried using a query to make a local copy of the table but the same truncation...

When we view a field with type 'memo' in a table (so even not in a query ) which is odbc connected to an oracle table where the corresponding field is a clob field , it is truncated.
I want to know to avoid that.
It is strange as earlier this was not the case for another field of another table, similarly connected.
