Books for Access fe to SQL Server be

A number of people design systems with an Access front-end linked to a
SQL Server backend. Can anyone please recommend any good books which
set out how to do this?

I am interested to learn the techniques of building a .mdb (not .adp)
front for a SQL Server backend.

I have the book by Mary Chipman and Andy Baron: Microsoft Access
Developer's Guide to SQL Server. Although this is well written and
helpful, it spends much time showing how to upsize an Access backend to
SQL Server. I have tried this but still encounter problems. It
appears that simple Access databases can be upsized but complicated
ones need to have their front end redesigned. I am interested to find
out what is good design in this situation.

I want to find out how to start from scratch, desiging the Access front
end with the specific intention of using SQL Server backend.

Should forms be bound, with Recordsets? or should they be unbound? If
so, how best to get some data and to store any changes?

Should lists and combo boxes have RowSources or should this be handled
by code?

I need to upsize a database to SQL server and was looking for a good
book to help me redesign my front-end. I just picked up a book that
looks very promising : "Building Microsoft Access Applications" by John
L. Viescas. It has a 50+ page chapter on designing client/server
applications. The CD has 4 sample databases on it. It is an advanced
book that looks to have much useful information.

Thank you Mary. I will certainly take a look at that book.

I've been on a mission this past year to move from VB6 to .Net. I'm fortunate(!?) not to have the big catalog of some long-time VB developers, although I have some CE apps that have to be entirely rewritten in CF. A lot of what I develop has to be written for the PPc, so I knew I would be looking for information in .Net, ADO.Net, CF -- and SQL Server. So in the spirit that others might benefit from my journey, here are my observations....

I'm looking into buying a book to learn Access VBA programming. I am very familiar with Access however I am new to programming Access with VBA. Are there any recommendations for books for beginners? I was looking at "Beginning Access 2002 VBA" by Dave Sussman however many of the reviews are not so flattering about this one. Any recommendations are much appreciated.

Any recommendations for books that cover SQL programming for Access? I've already posted a question regarding Access's syntax for compound join statements (many-to-many using Link tables), but I'm hoping there is a good book that covers this type of thing.

Hello everyone, This is my first attempt at getting help in this manner. Please forgive me if this is an inappropriate request. I suddenly find myself in urgent need of instruction on how to communicate with a MySQL database table on a web server, from inside of my company's Access-VBA application. I know VBA pretty well but have never before needed to do this HTTP/XML/MySQL type functions.

I just got an email from Amazon.com offering me a pre-order of "DB2 9 for Developers" by Philip K. Gunning. Clicking on the link it showed me a few other possibly interesting books: "IBM DB2 9 New Features" by Paul Zikopoulos "Understanding DB2 9 Security" by Rebecca Bond "DB2 9 Fundamentals Certification Study Guide" by Roger E. Sanders Anyone have any comments on any of these books? The Developers one sounds interesting to me, as...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
